That's what you took out of this? Z was acting macho and blew this up?

Trump and JD were being civil and trying to have meaningful discussion, but Z blew it up?

Sounds like you are saying Z should have taken the "sugary sweet approach" we should get over. How about we treat people with respect and not supplicants that must beg for favor? If we don't want to help, be man enough to say no directly and politely instead of insulting them.

What the rest of us saw was a draft dodger and a couch humper trying to best a real hero and embarrass themselves in front of the entire world in the process. Trump makes Neville Chamberlain look like George Patton by comparison.

Yes. He has no nuanced approach. You go into a high stakes negotiation with some sense of losing the battle and winning a long game. He knows Trump was going to undress him, and he came in with a t-shirt. Have sense of what to expect. Trying to argue about dumb points about saying “Thank You” was terrible.

He is negotiating for his life. You accept certain things when making a bad deal slightly better than a bad deal worse.

That is my approach in life. But I don’t get to tell Trump what to do other than vote opposition. Zelenskyy knows the game. His prep team failed him.

What was the negotiation here? There's a thread on a deal being agreed before all this happened. You fly someone in to seal the deal and you ambush them on TV? You don't put real negotiations on TV, so to me this seems like Trump wanting to look tough (whether is yelling at a guy or seeing Z eat a shit sandwich), not an actual event.

Most of the time when two world leaders meet and do a photo op, 99% of the deal is already set in stone. These things are supposed to be highly orchestrated.

If a deal was not already done, Zelensky should not have come, and was pretty naive of him to do so ONLY because he should know who he’s dealing with. Remember this is the same U.S. President who in 2019 tried to extort military aid so Zelensky would use his government to “announce an investigation into Joe Biden”. So Z should know the type of corruption and dishonesty he’s dealing with here.

What nuance was missing from Zs approach, exactly?

He was ambushed and as far as I could tell, repeatedly said things like. "That's a lot of questions. Let me answer them", but was never given a chance because that was the point of Trump and Vance.

Vance was the one asking for his thanks. That dumb point rests on Vance. Z has said thanks countless times and had likly already said it several times today. He wasn't the one making it a thing. Vance was asking him to lick his boot. This is the leader of a free nation. What the actual F my dude.

Trump negotiates like private equity looking to quickly self off the parts. Winning friends. Anyone who thinks this is leadership and effective management has never experienced either. Being the tough douche is clickbait for reality tv. As government. Lmfao.

Correct - these POS's Trump and Vance at behest of Putin invited the Russian News into the Oval Office so he could humiliate a country that is fighting off their invasion for Russian TV. Totally set up in advance.

WE HAD A DEAL WITH UKRAINE - IN 1994!!!!

And all of Europe, the US, and Russia violated it.

Let's not sugarcoat it - Fing traitors is what they are.
