in 20 years of fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan 40,000 kids were killed depending on where you get your estimated. Israel is going to blow past that number in one year.

at some point if they can’t control themselves they become no different from the monsters they say they are trying to stop. And there is no reason for the us to sanction the obviously lazy and sometimes indiscriminate killing of civilians. Especially children.

 

Is it a matter of they can't control themselves or the nature of fighting Hamas? I'm not trying to excuse the deaths, again, I just don't see an exit strategy for Israel or the US that makes the situation any better going forward.

Any outrage over “war crimes” you have at Israel should be directed tenfold towards Hamas.

For some reason, the only way of drawing any sort of moral equivalency between Hamas and Israel is through holding Israel to a higher standard.

 

That's what I don't understand. We can condemn the actions of Hamas and Israel, which most people universally are here on this board. Outside of that, I havent seen anyone tell me what Israel is supposed to do in this situation? They're having to fight a guerilla force in urban environments that has no regard for Israeli or Palestinian life.

 

The deaths of 25,000 out of 2 million is not a genocide.

 

My guess is Israel is being more indiscriminate than they could be. But what is the appropriate number of deaths? 10.000? 15,000? I don’t know.

The fact is that at least 1/3 of the population support Hamas. Many in the population are complicit in the attacks and hostage taking and there is a high amount of support among Gazans for the eradication of Israel. Best I can tell they have no interest in a 2 state solution.

On the flip side Netenyahu has been a complete failure and his negligence lead to this attack. This administration is filled with people who are militant zionists. They will likely get voted out of office so they have every political motivation to keep the bombing going because as soon as they stop they get voted out.

At this point I think it would be appropriate for Biden to put some real political pressure to stop the indiscriminate bombing
