We really should refuse to ever play another game with ACC refs. What those bastards do is criminal. Conflict of interest defined

Wow! The very definition of targeting.

I’m not making excuses. Refs should not be aligned and pay by any conference when it is a clear conflict of interest. It is like having your Mother as a judge. It is just stupid and eventually enough teams will complain and it will be fixed one day. cal also choked as well.

Whether the ACC refs reversed that to help Miami is debatable. Esp the notion they are trying to protect their cash cow.
But there is no doubt that is targeting. If someone doesn’t see that they are blinded by their own bias.

I also want to add I got obsessed with the Swindle back in 03. I did a lot of research and watched each disputed play multiple times.
After I did that I concluded There is no doubt the Swindle was an orchestrated fix to give the Crims every opportunity to win, and they did. I can give many details but this is about Miami.

Refs definitely protecting the league’s financial interest. Everyone wants to talk about the last play of the game last week, but no one wants to discuss the disgusting phantom holding call on the VT TD run.

That is a separate discussion, this is a thread about the refs helping Miami with clear evidence. Start a new thread.

I agree, obvious targeting. I give refs leeway for missing bang-bang calls live at full speed, they've got a hard job. But on replay reviews, they shouldn't mess things up like this.

But technical note: it wasn't a call reversal. It went uncalled on the field, the booth stopped play for a targeting review but decided not to call it. If the refs were conspiring with the ACC to help Miami, they don't even initiate the review. This just screams lack of competence more than conspiracy.

Also an example of the ACC refs protecting their conference’s financial interests.

No is one trying to hear anything about refs when a 25-point lead was blown. That’s what the real focus should be on.

Especially if I wasn't a ref, but an anonymous official in a review booth somewhere.

The ref on the field got it right ...

In fact a whole bunch of people are trying to discuss the clearly missed penalty call but keep being harassed by you. If that should be the focus start a thread on it and it can be discussed there.

Nah I think I’ll stay right here and reiterate the fact that a team blew a 25-point lead yet somehow refs are being blamed. Embarrassing behavior.

We allowed a long pass play to let FSU win the Swindle.
Does that mean all the egregiously wrong officiating calls which favored FSU should be ignored?

We shouldn’t ignore those calls, but there’s a reason why coaches preach to their players to play well enough during the game so the ending isn’t decided by the refs. I’ve never bought into the whole “blame the officials” philosophy. Especially when a team is up big and just flat out chokes like Cal just did.

But this isn’t a Cal board. We aren’t Cal fans invested in an outcome.
Of course cal shouldn’t have blown a big lead and of course Cal shouldn’t blame this loss on the refs. 100%!
But that doesn’t mean the Acc booth didn’t help their league leading team when it had an opportunity.
As I said it’s debatable but the Swindle proves the refs have their biases.
