At least age is not on his side. He is 55 right now and I'd be surprised if his ego didn't need a stroke from the NFL.
I feel like he'll be more successful in college because his biggest strength seems to be assembling a good team and staff. I don't get the impression that he's a great coach, but he seems to be a very good CEO.
This^ Why? Is it because Deon is the coach? If recruits think UF is a mess in the past 10 years, well CU is worse. I don't want to hear that excuse from recruits to why they didn’t choose UF.
You're definitely right. And he does that as well/better than anyone I know in college football (Kiffin plays the game pretty well, too, but not as well as "Neon"). As long as he continues to put on the "show", I think he'll attract talented players and pretty good assistant coaches. Even at CU, that will get him a lot of wins, probably quickly. I do have my doubts about how he will perform at the highest level in college football. But Colorado is a good testing ground. He'll play some big boys and have a chance to show what he can do. Even though he was a Nole and a showboat, I have a hard time rooting against him. I think it is because he seems to really have the kids interest at heart. I think he has a lot to teach most of the players about life and success as a player. And even though I think he loves the attention, he's not the same man he was 20 years ago, IMO.
How did he get a degree? Don’t you need a degree to coach in college football. I looked it up. He graduated in 2020 with a business degree from a school that sounds familiar. Was it a mail order degree?
Trash or not, if he can win NIL deals (which he seems to be good at - won the bidding war for "Money" this year and Hunter last year), then he's gonna get great players and win games.
