yep remember On3 led the Ja’keem Jackson jump during the latter part of his senior year and I think Dijon was flirting in the low 100’s for a while.

I think we thought C Ray, well I did, would be able to corral some Louisiana DB’s to Gainesville along with getting the top DB’s in our state to stay.

The moment he goes back to LSU he lands the top DB in the 2025 class and he’s from the state of Florida. Go figure lol. Oh well, DJ will connect to Dallas Wilson, nah ima say VB3, on top of Pickett’s head in 2026 in Gainesville.

So, he recruited well but sucked at coaching? I can buy that.
None of those guys could tackle before Harris Got here.

All about the Benjamins. Corndogs much better at that game than we are. They're like gump and mutt lite. Like I said doesn't really matter who the assistants are.

Has he done it at a school that isn't top shelf in recruiting?

    Brian Hartline - Wikipedia

So harltines entire coaching history is as receivers coach and recruiter at OSU since 2018...

How much developing does a guy like Jeremiah Smith need? He's played with the most stacked deck of receivers with exception of that great Alabama year. The program that won bidding wars for Terrell Pryor, Justin fields, Quinn ewers(briefly) and others as well.

Osu has been cherry picking the best florida talent for years at multiple positions. Remember nick petit frere? Linemen, qbs, wrs corners etc....they must have a whole staff of amazing recruiters.

Look at LSU. They have a stiff for a coach and they didn't miss a beat in their transition year. Some schools have systems in place others got slapped down for trying

I'll bet you a million dollars that you put any of these guys at Moo U or some place like that they aren't going to recruit anyone near the top 50. Probably not even the top 100.

11th at his position and 61st in the nation according to Rivals, so I don't see him as an afterthought for anybody. He showed out in competitions. He was a big get on his own to headline the class even if we hadn't gotten any higher ranked guys.

There's always going to be another with the same checkbook. Muschamp was never going to recruit an OL.

When he left LSU the first time, they said the same thing about him... that he could recruit but cannot develop the talent that he had. Sure, some players are so talented that they will shine no matter how average the coach is. He got lucky that way at LSU and in Gainesville. I like our DB coach just fine...

Wonder how UF recruited so well under Zook, Urban and one sided Muschamp?

According to the logic of this board, it had to be because those coaches had bags at their disposal. Surely isn’t because they weren’t great recruiters in their own right first and foremost

The bags help you get your foot in the door. Once you're inside you give them your sales pitch and increase the bag amounts after that if that's what it takes to get the players you really want.

Not saying UF doesn’t have this, i’m sure they do, but reasons like this is why i’ve been wanting UF to throw a blank check at Pantoni to get him back in Gainesville

this is a flawed and almost ridiculous question and you know it lol. Almost being obtuse for the sake of it.

and as we ALL know, stick a great coach at a lower school (answering your question) and he gets snatched up quick. That’s like saying stick Urban Meyer at Bowling Green or Spurrier at Duke or Saban at Toldeo and….oh wait!!!

Nobody is saying bags don’t play a part in it, we’re in the NIL era of course it does, but to just say bags is THEE reason WR’s are lining up to go to OSU is being dismissive to the work he’s done with those WR’s when they’ve gotten to campus.

If just writing blank checks for the top WR’s were that easy, then UGA, Texas, A&M, etc would be right there with OSU as far as WR rep goes recently. You think OSU has more money in the chamber than those schools?

You’re living in the past. The game has changed. And not for the better. The days of assistants having any significant effect on bringing in highly sought after guys is over. Can they bring in the next level guys? Possibly. And they can definitely teach/develop guys if they are good at that. Give me those guys over the BS artists every day of the week.

I don’t believe it’s truly over but I get your overall point and where you’re coming from. We’re not hearing how deals are constructed or whatever but i’ll say this….from the outside looking in, I REALLLLY do believe UF is building its roster the right way and had the entire time (wish we coulda been a bit aggressive in the portal after last year but that’s kinda nitpicking)

Our portal defections since Napier has been here hasn’t really been players who i’d consider as make or break players.

a great mixture of young talent, veteran talent, and transfer additions.

Get me an OC. We have the talent to make a run next season

Can’t be bags. Every other program cheated, but not UF.
