I don't know. A part of me thinks we're in a new era of NIL and the long play is save the $26M instead rushing to buyouts. We might as well put some of that $ to up the NIL ante instead and see what happens rather than to toss it out the window. Once buyout gets reasonable next year, then make the change. Its not like a coaching change is a sure thing to success.
It's always a battle of the lines with Kentucky under Stoops, and, well, that hasn't been good for us the last few years.
But then you just bought a bunch of players who will take the money for a year leave the following year when a new coach comes I. if we can even get them to come with how hot Billy’s seat likely will be
The NIL and the Transfer Portal are a shame... and something that I most certainly did not want, but the reality now is that up to one third of your team will leave even if you recruit to keep your freshman... unless you try and do it like Dabo Swinny at Clemson. About one third of your team seems to be the annual turnover on average, that I have noticed, so far.
Last year, their QB couldn't complete a pass against us but no worries, they just ran the ball. Since we were too scared to tackle, they didn't need to to throw the ball. Kentucky 33-14 Florida (Sep 30, 2023) Box Score - ESPN
IOW, most team are losing about one third of their team per season with graduation and because of the NIL and the portal... it's just normal.
Lots of those since Tebow's last game in the Swamp. With the game right after that game being the most painful for me.
