From the guy with so many DUIs he can’t drive a motor vehicle. He also signed NIL deals with UK players. He’s from Kentucky.
From TOS “— Florida went into Saturday's scrimmage with a clearly stated goal of establishing more deep passing but sources have said that for the second week in a row, the unit fell short. Florida's quarterbacks found themselves under quite a bit of pressure and longer throws tended to be inaccurate or turned over to the defense. Florida continues to try to figure out the right side of its offensive line where Damieon George, Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson, Roderick Kearney and Kamryn Waites continue to jockey for rank, though sources have made it clear that things remain unsettled with two weeks to go before the Gators' season opener. Mertz was again effective in short to intermediate ranges. Florida's coaches want more out of him in terms of generating explosive but, in the same way Napier has described it, one source said that deep passes "are a team effort" which wasn't up to par Saturday.”
This doesn’t give me the warm fuzzies. If we’re going to navigate this gauntlet we’re gonna need a solid downfield passing game. Hope the o line gets it together
I love when people act like keeping Mullen would have been so much better. Do you see Dan Mullen chomping at the bit to coach again? That guy has no interest in a coaching in the NIL era and it shows.
Maybe it’s an indication that we have a decent pass rush Can I give my own post a rainbow? EDIT: looks like I’ve got a lot of rainbow help from my good friends at SwampGas
Do we go 1s v 1s in scrimmages? Actually I'm not sure if this is saying our pass rush pretty good or not. Line still has time to get it together. If 1s go against 2s this might be a problem.
I guess we don’t really know but I’m used to seeing mostly positivity in the preseason so anything negative tends to make me worry. That being said I have the gift of always thinking worst case scenario.
I thought the scrimmages are closed to the media. I would like to know where this information comes from.
One could say our O-line sucks badly... or one could say OUR DEFENSE IS BACK, BABY! I'll go with the latter.
lots of former players were at the scrimmage. Some speak to podcasters about what they see so that is a possible source. I think.
My onnnnly worry (well not only but biggest) on the D side of things is…..do we have enough quick twitch pass rushers? When i saw quick twitch I mean Jachai Polite/Greenard type of rushers? Seems like we got Bama type of DE’s but no DE’s who got 10+ sacks potential
not yet. Other than a report on 247 for subscribers (of which I am not) nothing much written yet. I expect podcasts to drop Monday and Tuesday with some info being shared at that time. gators breakdown on Monday and stadium & gale on Tuesday.
I'm a subscriber to TOS as well and don't want to share too much in case I get in trouble (with GC police). I will say if you read the whole thing, you might just get the impression the defense is playing well and the coaches are pleased with that side of the ball. Also there are positives about the offense. All together, the point about the OL could be bucketed in "where the coaches are focusing most of their energy to get right" as opposed to "it's a disaster and we should all panic."
Richie Leonard starting? He had such a bad year. Maybe he transferred a year earlier and we just didn't know.
