I think this is horrific, but no surprise that it was coming. There are still some Luddites on these boards that didn't think this garbage wouldn't infect HS sports too. There are precious few TV opportunities for HS sports, but I've no doubt that there will be hands out for whatever that small revenue stream is along with perhaps radio and the gate. They'll want the DOL to classify them as employees next.
And yet No 20 in FPI. Like a lot of us feel we'll have a decent team but schedule is an oof. Also crazy is we're only No. 11 in SEC FPI. Florida football’s ranking in ESPN’s 1st Football Power Index for 2024
Next the government will probably get involved. Next thing we know, they’ll even have protections for child actors, making sure they’re fairly compensated if anyone profits off their services. Wait nevermind, we did that in 1939
Other than GT where are the other weak sisters of the ACC ranked? To think the 2 “powerhouses “ looking to leave actually think they will compete in a conference not loaded with charmin soft teams smh
Crazy that 9 out of the 10 toughest schedules are all from the SEC. And some talking heads still try to act like winning in the ACC, Big 10,Pac12 or big 12 is the same as winning in the SEC
For the more prominent hs programs around the state or top 150 rated stars, this has long been a known issue (at least for the non deniers), the action if approved just makes it legal now. Lest we forget these Dec 2006 comments made by Lakeland Dreadnaught Chris Rainey, in the week leading up to its state title game against STA. "I didn't even count it," Rainey, ranked the No. 32 in the ESPN 150, told the Herald. "When I walk around, people are buying me food, giving me money. I'm like, damn, I'm glad I'm Chris Rainey. It's real nice to be me.
