I reside in the comfy little Pensacola bedroom community of Pace. The wifey and I are happy as a pair of old clams here.
Got me a little N Florida history my own self ALOT actually. Born: Ft Walton Beach Raised: N Okaloosa County (Crestview) School: Sophmore year Pensacola Christian (To get the heathen out - fyi, did not work) lol Question for old timers: Ever eat at a resturaunt called Martine's? 610 East Gregory?? Interesting hunting fact - Our group had the Pensacola Fairgrounds property lease for dove hunting for many years. That was a special place for bird hunting - As in Outdoor Life or Field and Stream good. You could shoot a limit between noon and 12:30 - THOUSANDS of Dove would come into our planted millet field. People would come off the road and try to lay down hard cash to hunt with us, we refused of course, it was a private club.
Stories/posts out there now as well that it was a third party, not the gator collective, that the deal was signed with. JPM sports (possibly a company of sports agents) or something similar. Can’t remember the exact name. And that everyone’s friend - Darren Heitner- (also) works for that company.
1986 ish , when I was coaching in the Clay Co School system we got beat pretty bad by Choctaw . In a sectional football matchup
Snapped the ball over the punter’s head against Pcola Christian one fall evening circa 1977. They got the ball on our 12 yard line. I had to redeem myself with two TFLs the following series and they didn’t score. But, to get back to ‘cruitin’, and assuming PCB means ECP, I’m really wondering why the Gator plane was in Panama City. Haven’t been many PC Gators, especially recently. Pat Miller and Alonzo Johnson were from my era. edit: See the Mosley post now. Cool. Patrick Miller’s HS.
I’m thinking it was Choctaw’s band that stormed the halftime field at double or triple time and a huge scream circa 1976. First time I ever saw something like that. Impressive. The green football team pretty much rolled over us Rams back then, too.
Haven't had anyone from Mosley since Pat Miller. My nephew just graduated from Mosley last year, now attending West Point. His older sister graduated in '19 and graduates from UF this spring. His dad/my brother taught there for two years. Have two other nieces who graduated from Mosley. My two brothers, two sisters and I all graduated from Bay between '72 and '82.
