Correct. I just looked it up - fellow named Joshua Thompson Joshua Thompson - Director of Football Operations - Staff Directory - Florida Gators
To make those comments when he has a $95,000,000 contract is just disgusting! It like Bezos' telling his $15 hour employees Amazon isn't about making money, it's about doing the work.
Yeah - College Football is now an endlessly deep well of "show me the money". Kirby just got 130,000,000 Kelly got his $95,000,000 The corruption of a simple "sport" is breathtaking. Pay the Coaches Pay the Players Pay the family, handlers and all the 3rd cousins, in on the graft. Build New Facilities Create a collective, which is a nice word for an organization dedicated to bribery, auctions, and corruption. Crap all over student "Non-athletes" by offering them NOTHING compared to the athletes. Sell your soul to a "conference" and a TV contract. Destroy rivalries and traditions. Oh and "laugh" at attending classes or being part of the student body. Well done by those "in charge" of what used to be a nice (football) ancillary benefit to a College or University. SMDH
The remark was about a 1 iron, I believe. I used to use a 1 iron off the tee a fair amount. I could hit it about 240 or so and it was very accurate, off the tee. I hit it a couple of times from the fairway and it was different. it was still pretty accurate but it didn't get more than about 10 - 15 feet in the air and it would run at least 100 feet when it landed. I could stop a 2 iron decently from the fairway but not my 1 iron.
Not a movie, Lee Trevino said it: “If you are caught on a golf course during a storm and are afraid of lightning, hold up a 1-iron. Not even God can hit a 1-iron.” -Lee Trevino
I don't think it's a movie reference. I think Lee Trevino may have said that. An urban legend, perhaps. Here's the story as I remember it. Lee got struck by lightning on the golf course once. A reporter asked him what he would do if he got caught in a similae situation again. He told the reporter he would take a 1 iron from his bag and hold it over his head. When questioned why he would do that he replied "Even God can't hit a 1 iron."
If you don't get players from the portal then maybe you can pull that off... but he's no Dabo Swinney.
