I have to admit... that particular metric is one that is hard to refute as one of the best ways to rate true talent in a recruiting class.
The amount of variables is staggering to predict if a player will pan out from high school to college... and especially to the NFL. But to keep this from turning into a calculus question, we'll just have to live with ranking averages. And, yes, you are right... they are flawed.
Time to have a recruiting faq or wiki or sticky with obvious stuff that gets posted over and over and over and also to dispel myths and bunk.
