These dudes claiming Saban retired because he was about to get exposed with NIL are the definition of salty. They are just throwing ish at the wall with no logic behind it.
Yeah I mean you delay it until after signing day to keep the class then they leave anyways. Just be honest and retire when you want to.
Someone will rise who can manage the new craziness AND put a great product on the field. Doing it consistently is going to be tough. The general manager model may be the ticket. Free the staff up from NIL, transfers, and some recruiting nonsense.
Everything right now is a big experiment. The easy solution is just keep throwing money around. And that’s an easy answer but money is finite and you still need great coaches. I agree, the GM position has the potential to be a game changer and potentially provide flexibility to any future regulations that may come down from the CFB rule makers.
I don’t think Saban was going to be “exposed” but it wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t want to deal with this new version of college football and that hastened his exit.
Not saying going to FSU but would t surprise me. FSU cleaning up in portal again with #3 class and 5 Bama guys in last week or two. Wouldn’t shock me to see them grab Ffrench too.
I think that’s only part of the solution. The key is can your scheme be easy to learn and yet effective. Alternately - the Georgia/Michigan way - have a core group of guys come through the HS recruiting system and maintain continuity while using the portal to acquire a piece here or there. This is where it will settle down. If BN is successful then his hS recruits will have establish the culture.
I love how they’re grabbing all of bama’s back ups to be starters on their team while also stating they were better than Bama and deserved the playoff spot over them
I haven’t seen anyone but gator fans suggesting this as a possibility. Think it’s more wishful thinking, but who knows. They have the money and I doubt we’d put up much of a fight even if the optics aren’t that great.
He would be a great choice for them....as long as they dont take our game changing special teams guy we could survive.
