Well that may technically true, but that is primarily because he is the only one that stayed healthy and did not get a crazy amount of penalties. That's a low bar and not where we and our coaches want to max out. He was just as culpable as the rest of not giving Mertz time to throw.
Offered today. From our backyard, literally!! I believe Travis McGriff the OC. https://247sports.com/player/jarquez-carter-46141723/
Not according to PFF, if you believe in their scores... Pro Football Focus’ player grades for the Florida Gators | GatorCountry.com
I don't rely on PFF. If you think Caleb Williams was only the 10th best QB this year, have at it. None of us know the play call that was on and the exact assignment of the player for the opposing call on the other side of the ball. PFF is just guessing and giving an opinion, which is likely wrong a lot of the time. Leonard and Slaughter both allowed the pocket to collapse way too easily, giving Mertz no pocket to step forward into, and their differing grades mean little to me.
Oh, we are going to rub this recruitment in Edward Waters face, yes we are. We'll be trolling their message boards. Oh, yeah they don't have those do they?
I can actually believe Williams 2023 year was around 10th. That doesn't mean he's not a high draft pick, just he didn't perform as well in 2023 which is what the grades are supposed to reflect, actual performance. He was 11th in QBR in 2023. 2023 College Football Season Leaders Total QBR | ESPN But, I do agree with you, I am dubious about PFF scores even if some do appear reasonable. Seems nearly impossible to isolate and grade out every play across 100 teams in the timeframe they pump out those grades.
So you’re going Spurrier? Good one. I’m sure if Buddy Ryan was running our D guys would be lining up to play here. Silly example. And Pearsall was used every game and had the numbers to show for it. Also a silly example.
I would put more into Urban Meyer's grading out champions grades than PFF, but I'm sure some of the analysts are good. They just have an impossible job assessing every play for every player.
Billy G is not a good recruiter. He might be a good WR coach but we are not going to land top tier kids while he is here.
Elite WRs don’t sign with us but the best QB in the country just did …but our offense isn’t any good? There were several bad takes between your post and the one you responded to, but most of us are used to it. It’s just Shane being Shane these days. You have to be the loudest voice in the room …every time. Ok buddy, we hear you. You don’t have to repeat it again …and again.
Ricky had almost 1000 yards receiving but for some reason we chose not to pass to him the last game to help him reach that milestone. Offense is not afraid to pass. Too many horizontal pass plays behind line of scrimmage for my liking. Also, D needs to improve to get Offense the ball more during the game
I'm not surprised we lost out to lsu for a WR. Between Cortez Hankton, their WR coach, and their recent track record with WRs, they aren't a program you want to compete against for receivers. It seems we've cooled off in the portal market, while some of our rivals are heating up. Unfortunate.
