New D-Coordinator info

 

David Waters and others suggest Austin will be under Ron. Not a noted demotion but a signal Austin might have been a little green and not ready. Good for Armstrong and good for the Gators.

 

David Waters post on X with stats for new Defensive Coach.


Auburn led SEC in RZ defense at 79.55%. Florida was 8th in SEC at 87.5%

AU finished 2023 2nd in the SEC in 3rd down defense at 31.7%. UF was 6th 35.6%.

AU was 4th in the SEC in 40+ yard plays given up with nine on the season. UF was dead last giving up 24 of those plays.

 

Love to see former players say this about their coach.

Definitely odd pick even though they're top tier academically. I have a gut feeling it's more on Mullen why he didn't chose UF at that time, & missed the boat on UF as our RB room is pretty good. And imho he's not a take a Texas either so he chose his only real P5 option.

 

Maybe we can steal back the two defensive players they stole from us. Lol.

Nah. It was probably mainly about the $$$$$$$$$$. Like it almost always is nowadays. Lagway being one of the exceptions.
