Napier post game said he probably shut it down too early against Tennessee. Then again he probably trusted the defense too much towards the end of the Arkansas game as well. That's one where we still overcame the defense only to have the confusion with the special teams cause a rushed kick. As horrific as the defense and special teams were, we really could have still had a decent year hence some of my optimism. I have no problem with people who don't see it because until he puts out a complete product it is only hope and optimism . I just don't get the constant vitriol from some of the fanbase at every turn.
I agree pd_gator. I will add though that we have a big positive going for us with a veteran quarterback returning for another year in our system. A lot of our next season opponents, including our opening game opponent, will not have that advantage. Every game will be a fight but we have a chance to get this thing headed in the right direction next year.
Winner! We really were only a few plays here or there from a very good season. My optimism is all the freshman that played and so many played well. Then the hires all look fantastic so far. If he actually hires an OC and addresses ST's I do get excited for what this team can do!
Oh great point, GM coming back was his biggest win for 2024 imho. Miami is looking horrible at QB and the one they wanted turned pro!! They should have went after Jefferson, he'd had made them dangerous vs their JV acc schedule. And with a majority of our opponents will be breaking in new QBs it sets up better than most realize.
Better blocking, special teams and defense will make our current OC exceptional. Mertz, Wilson, Johnson and Boardingham will all improve and that alone will make the offense better. Have to get better on the line. It is not optional.
Captain obvious here. Defensive and offensive lines will determine the season. Most important thing barring injuries.
Is Cover 3 Film Room a Gator? Just asking because it appears your comments aren't directed at the right party.....I think you should post this on X
Agree, portal next few days Will be huge in moving towards that eight or nine wins, as we need guys in sooner rather than later, to get ready for spring
Saw this on Twitter..... If u take out mcneese and Charlotte....UF avg 5.4 points a game in the 3rd quarter. 3rd Quarter: Utah - 0 points UT - 0 points UK - 7 points Vandy - 7 points USCe - 3 points UGA - 0 points Arky - 6 points LSU - 14 points Missouri - 14 points FSU - 3 points
Another reason I would like to see a dedicated OC. I'm fine with the scheme but the situational calling has been bad. Way too many games we have lost the 3rd quarter and badly so at that. It started game 1 against Utah last year in the Swamp. My hope before the season started was that much of that was due to Toneys defense affecting the offense as well and that it would improve this year but obviously it didn't. Too many times a 3 and out or quick punt gave the ball back followed by a defense that couldn't get off the field or worse, blow a coverage and give up a quick score.
