I’d like to think the same but right now not many options.

Or the QB everyone wants will go to Ole Miss and we will see 50 articles s out how we are the only ones that missed on him. I hope we get Walker but it honestly just feels like we are stuck in a negative news cycle.

There was once a time that Treon harris Was our best option at QB.

Then it’s a 6-6 year likely. We need an experienced veteran Qb to come in and play for 2 years

If we are being real, Mertz passing#s were comparable if not better in some important stat lines to ARs last season. Not sure why every body automatically assumes a lost season

No. I think it hurts more because you’ve got to have 4 in qb room. With Brown playing baseball not sure what future holds.

3 year starter as well. Invaluable game experience. Can’t replicate 3 years of action. I’m hopeful and can see how this could play out well. Most QB’s get better with experience with a handful having success in early starting years. List is too long but to name a few guys who looked average/below average who turned out to be good players by their 3rd/4th years starting are Bennett, Nix, Hooker, Levis, Hartman, etc. Would love to add Mertz to this list. Nice gap between him and Lagway.

Jaden Rashada is a name which will live in infamy.

Whether he's a champion or a bust will only add flavor.

Mertz or Miller will likely put up much better passing numbers than AR did last year, certainly in completion percentage. Also will see a dip in QB rushing yardage, but the RB's should pick some of that up. IMO the big gain will be consistency, hopefully avoiding those droughts where AR went ice cold and we piled up 3 and outs.

And 6-6 ? You don’t have to go back thirty years. Mertz may be better than several that have taken snaps tge last 30 years.

6/6 may happen no matter who the qb is. I have no idea of what to expect from this team. We have rbs and nothing else proven. AR had that record and if he came back, he may do exactly that again. Do you mean, we need a future nfl qb to carry this team to 8-4? That could be correct but it’s not going to happen.

Losing AR rushing isn’t about the personal yardage to me, it’s the space he created for our rbs. Rushing qbs are a cheap way to get a bad offense off the ground. Without that threat, the passing has to be there. It’s tge difference in a real qb, they can throw an offense to victory. Running is what you do every other play when you lack passing ability.
