Maybe because we were at least COMPETENT on offense and had staff continuity. But, damn...they gutted us for our defensive recruits. No sugar coating. We got our asses whooped.
thanks for the reply. So there wasn’t a loophole or indirect way for Florida to organize this any better? There is always a way to skirt this. So now this should be a well oiled machine with the new setup? The school is intimately involved in the organization and operations now? We should be able to compete with nearly everyone?
Is football in a quiet period on recruit contacts or no? I didn't think head coaches could call recruits right now. Or is that just visit? I thought coaches couldn't initiate contact during this early signing, but Lincoln Riley is calling DJ Lagway constantly? That's allowed? What does "quiet period" mean?
you have no idea what I do or don’t do and it’s rather irrelevant to the discussion. It was a stupid response.
The gator guard and the gator collective were both shuttered, and Florida Victorious was born. The guard I think was fine, but was really only for the big guys. The GC was a mess.
I understand what you’re saying, but a bigger issue is why they didn’t. We can’t continue to lose highly rated recruits and expect to compete.
The school is still only allowed to direct the athletes to the third parties. They aren’t allowed to be involved directly in the deals. How much money is available is still up to us. TV money and ticket sales don’t fund NIL deals. The collectives are fan run organizations. Our fans just accepted the first clowns that showed up to set one up and run it. The school accepted that, they didn’t really have a choice. I don’t think anyone expected what a shit show heitner and company would be. When the laws allowed the schools to get more involved, the school got involved. They put some of their heavy hitters in place to shutter the old collectives and start the new one. If you funnel your money through the collective, you’re at their mercy on how that money gets distributed. If you don’t like how much money is available or how the money is being spent, you are free to make moves without involving the collective. You can raise your own money, broker your own deals. If you choose to not be involved, you get what you get.
