This evening, CBN , coach juluke and Will Harris spent 6 hours at X's high-school today visiting him and a 2025 LB that's really good. Then Harris went in home with X
Realistically, we allowed Kirby to jump out ahead of us in recruiting. I think we are making strides. I expect a closer gamer, but I will concede that one. I could see us stunning Texas in Austin with this being their first year in conference. I got us ending the streak against LSU and FSU. You know Lane will have his team ready to play in the Swamp. Whoever has the ball last probably wins that game.
The OOC schedule is where many other programs give their team a breather. Miami, FSU and UCF next year are all P5 and in State rivalries. The kids are going to hit and play hard for State pride. Perhaps good games for fans but not a team playing in the SEC trying to get over injuries.
Alabama would too if that was their schedule. We need to be realistic with a young team again. We won't have a ton of 5 and 6 years players like FSU had this year (and even then they looked like a middle of the pack or less SEC team after losing their qb).
All teams should have to do the same. Scheduling minor league tuneups and counting those as legit wins counting toward playoff contention is weak as hell. I’m happy when teams get penalized for having a weak schedule. Next year there only two power conferences. The other 3 Have Fallen Way behind and are not on the same level at all anymore.
Looking at last year’s team, we were one play away from beating Arkansas and a very good Missouri team on the road. That would have given us 7 wins. Looking at this schedule through just the last 5 games, LSU loses their Heisman quarterback. FSU loses their 5th most votes quarterback. Yes, this schedule is ridiculous. Even without a vast improvement, these are winnable games. We are in the second year with Armstrong and Mertz. I don’t expect Mertz to have a Joe Burrow like second year, but if he comes out slinging it the way he was during the second half of last season and improves on the deep ball I do think we turn some heads. I don’t see any possible way that the defense performs as bad as it did at times last year. We need X and LJ to get on campus and make an impact in their first year.
Almost all of those games are winnable, but almost all of those games are losable also. I expect it to be much like last year and us being a dogfight almost almost every single game. I wouldn’t depend on true freshman to help you win those either
I agree. I just think that a lot of really good teams are going to have 3 to 4 losses in conference in this new setup.
Where’s Billy? I would have expected him to be there too…I sure hope he was the one holding the camera.
