Didn’t he play too he was 31? That’s pretty long for a rb. He took alot of damage and I’m sure he’s thanking himself now as he’s not in tge shape Earl Campball is.
Pretty long career for a back in reality. If he had Mahomes back there, he’d block or sit.

No one is happy about him entering the portal …and I think everyone understands his importance to the offense. But I believe the comments being made are more in defense of Montrell than to ridicule ETN… “not a sec caliber RB” …”mediocre at best” …Some really stupid stuff has been said on these threads about Johnson, by some, in their overreaction to Trevor entering the portal.

The facts are, Trell had as many explosive runs as Trevor.

It wasn’t three times more explosive.
Another poster posted this so I have to give him credit:
Etienne popped a good gain or explosive every 15.2 touches.

    Montrell explosive every 26 touches.

    So not 3 times more
    Not even 2 times more

Montrell had more receiving yards and receptions and they each had 1 receiving TD. Trell was also WAYYYY better on 3rd downs running for nearly a hundred more yards on 3rd down. Trell also had more rushes over 30 yards than ETN with a 48 yard run vs UGA and a 52 yards vs FSU.

As @bobbybaker86 already noted. ETN had 1 More run of 20 + yards than Trell. But trell had nearly a hundred more yards on 3rd down than ETN. Trell had a long of 34 yards vs 13 yards for ETN.

What, Montrell had a 48 yard run vs. The best defense on our schedule , UGA with an avg 9.1 yds per touch. He also rushed for a 52 yard rush the last game of the season vs. Fsu when he went for over a 100 yards

Never said anything about Montrell not being a good RB, I just think he is easier to replace IMO and he dropped some balls. Some of ya'll jump to conclusions like crazy if anyone says X is better at Y than Z is. Like this equation means you think Z sucks. I was very critical of ETN's pass blocking, Johnson is light years better in that category.

Look I get he is leaving, so now fans are legally required to downplay his past contributions for UF and just say he sucks, but come on.

If criticizing his blocking is dumping on our team, so be it, but this criticism has been on these boards last year even and throughout this season without any concern about ETN leaving. It's just very apparent and has been a topic of why ETN has not been getting the lion share of play over Montrell this year from early in the season. Concern about weaknesses on our team doesn't mean we are flaming our team. I like ETN and wouldn't mind him back if he changed his mind. I'd like to see what Webb and Daniels have also, but I don't think ETN is down with that.
