He said he never received a dollar from A&M, that’s a lie. He receives money from them every semester, even if he’s not getting any NIL money. I specifically mentioned the stipend in the first post of mine that you responded to. I’m not dying on any hill, just saying that him saying he never received a dollar is not true even if what he actually meant is true (which I also find unlikely). The shot he was taking at the sliced bread guy was about NIL. That’s one of the guys who was reporting the 30 or whatever million dollar class and implying that all those kids are millionaires. What else would he be talking about if he’s not talking about NIL?
I’m saying he is purposefully guiding the statement towards A&M, like a politician does. And he’s not lying since nobody considers stipends a school paying an athlete. They all do it and the rate is determined by the state I believe.
Maybe re-read the initial post of mine that you quoted. Like politicians do all the time, he’s lying. He said he didn’t receive a dollar from A&M. If he wants to play semantics, I can too. He has, in fact, received well more than a dollar that he can spend how he pleases, from TAMU. Even if what he means is true, and I don’t believe that part either. The guy his comment is directed at is talking about NIL and all the money the kids in that class got. He’s implying he didn’t get any of that money. I don’t believe that, and I know for a fact he’s received more than a dollar from TAMU.
In his post which is what I was talking g about when I posted that he was referring to NIL and the fact that everybody think they millionaires based off of what somepeople sat but he had yet to receive his NIL.
This is what he said: “I saw it coming freshman year when I didn’t get paid a dollar from a&m but ‘sliced bread’ had y’all thinking we was all millionaires,” He's implying he didn't get any NIL money, but it also could be construed as political, like username said, in that he didn't get any NIL money directly from TAMU. I'm saying, it's a lie even if he's telling the truth. He's definitely been paid more than a dollar by TAMU, even if he hasn't received any NIL money from TAMU OR a third party.
But if we know what he's referring to why imply alternate, unintended meanings for the sake of a message board debate?
I just said it's a lie even if it's the truth. It was a simple statement. I explained what I meant in my first post about it. It wasn't meant to spark a debate.
The athletic department doesn’t have to pay the payroll and they like it that way. Free for all is what we’ve got and as long as 90k show up and the tv deals keep rolling, the money train keeps going. Why would they pay? Maybe boosters continue or maybe some schools the boosters get fed up. There are already a select few actually competing on the same level for championships. The next twenty or so teams will claim the last few spots in the playoffs to be the sacrificial lambs.

Sadly, there is some truth in that. But as for me, it's not just no, but hell no on the situational ethics bullshit. The University of Florida is better than that, and so am I.
