Geesh, that’s what I said. so the question is why do we only have one offer out when there are 30 or 40 grad transfers already in the portal?? Juice wells is an example. And we can’t say we don’t want him. We need portal guys and he would be perfect as his numbers have been very good, and he has played in the SEC, or we could wait around and let Florida State grab him. When posters ask about someone committing without visiting and almost sounds like it’s one of Billy‘s staff members
How many times will you post we only have one offer out when you have absolutely no idea how many offers are out?
Yep. We have offered one Slackman. I’m quite sure there’s 30 other grad transfers in portal if not more. I hope we are well past the 3 week evaluation thing. While we evaluate others offer and getting commits ( see last two years). Grad transfers could have been offered three weeks ago and scheduled visits. You would think this would take precedent especially when we aren’t in a bowl game
You keep saying there is a list of 30 to 40 grad transfers out there that we could be talking to now. Could you please provide that list because I am not finding it anywhere on the internet. There are listings of 20 to 30 who have declared for the portal as a result of a coaching change or because they are grad transfers or because they just want to transfer but we can't talk to those who are leaving because of a coaching change or because they just want to transfer. Could you please show us this list of 30 to 40 grad transfers that we could be talking to?
Well: 1) it’s reported we’ve talked to multiple recruits 2) not all offers are made public. But continue to raise your blood pressure over it
Yeah, for a guy who never shuts the hell up about the portal, he sure makes a ton of assumptions with ZERO inside information whatsoever. Maybe, just mayyyybe, a lot of this stuff isn't made public and there's way more going into it than we realize? I know....crazy right?
Who is "we"? Are you referring to the Florida staff? Because I've seen you say this a million times, and you can say it a million more, but guess what? It wasn't true then, it's not true now, and it'll never be true no matter how many times you want to say it. What, do you think Billy and the staff see a guy hit the portal, Google his stats, and conclude 'well he might be a good fit, so let's schedule some time next Tuesday to watch his film'. Do you think Billy would ever be a coach who thinks it's acceptable to fall behind in this area? We have some of our own coaches and staff members who work on this stuff every day, as well as area scouts who work as private contractors and are compensated by UF for their evaluations. I wouldn't be surprised if Billy and the staff have up to date scouting reports on most (if not all) of these kids before they even hit the portal. Just because Billy said their player evaluations are thorough does NOT mean the staff is just sitting around waiting it out with no sense of urgency. But sure, you can look at the results and see we didn't magically get 5 of the kids on your personal wishlist, so you conclude that we're dicking around while everyone else gets the guys we should have got. Well sorry to burst your bubble, but it doesn't work like that.
Grad transfers have different rules. Can talk to earlier and commit earlier. See Max Johnson from AM who has already committed to UNC. Here is some (30) and there’s plenty more. Clay Patterson Max Johnson Kelly Akharaiyi Mark Redman Ozzie Nicholas Tyler Neville Dylan Ruiz Anthony Roussous Jonny Hassard Thor Griffith Easton Kilty Juice Wells Slackman Jalen Travis Brody Kidwell Will Howard Grayson McCall Cam Ward Sammy Anderson JC Davis Justin Anderson George Johnson Connor Henderson Noah Taylor Steven Losoya Paul Lewis III Emmanuel Edabe Fred Davis Jordan Clark Onome Kessington Brayden Rhome
Here are some grad transfers (30) and there’s plenty more. Some already have visits set up and there’s already been a commitment. I was wrong to say 30-40 already out there. More like double that number. Ok now let's use logic of these "grad transfer" how many actually have the grades to get into UF? And do we offer the graduate Program for they need? They have to be both release from old school and accepted by the new school grad program. Lots of different rules for grad transfers other than when they can hit the portal.
Maybe consider the fact the first ones in the portal may not be the best ones available for our needs... we don't want to jump early on some lesser transfers and then miss out on a better one because we are out of space. I get it, I want to see movement quick too. Get new recruits in, get transfers in, fire some coaches, etc but we are outsiders, waaaaay on the outside, and have no idea what is really going on in Napier's office. So let it play out. He brought in Mertz when everyone was throwing a fit and Mertz worked well for us. And... I seriously hope he is working overtime to find and OC and ST coaches, and make appropriate firings ti make room. The coaching firings/hiring is what will make or break 2024 season more than the transfers because it affects the recruiting class, potentially the transfer class, and of course the product on the field.
Well some are from Penn, Princeton, Harvard so I’m sure they’d be fine. In fact our only offer is to guy from Penn ( I believe).
Lincoln Riley met with Grad Transfer yesterday. UNC already had QB Most if not all kids I listed can easily get into Florida, heck half were Ivy League kids. And keep in mind I only listed some of the grad transfers. There’s no way you can tell me we can’t use more than 2 guy on that list. Heck, Wells and Akalyiri would be top 1-3 receivers on our team today. It’s about a mindset or urgency overall and that’s not what I’m seeing. We have no bowl game to use as an excuse or distraction this year.
When it comes to football grad transfers, grades are kinda meaningless. They already have a degree, so it just boils down to the Masters program they enroll in. Or to put it a little more simply, which 2-3 grad classes are they going to take for a semester or two.
So I stopped looking after finding Akharaiyi, Redman and Ruiz have not graduated. That is 3 out of the first 7 on the list you provided don't qualify for your statement regarding graduate transfers that we could have been talking to. Could you please review your list to see if you can come up with 30 names that actually qualify for the statement you made? When checking the names just use google and put in the players name and school with the question 'what year is xyz' you will get answers that will provide the players profile and it will list what year they are in. Of the three listed above I believe there was one senior and two juniors. The other four that I looked at has 'graduate'. You are going to need at least 26 to 36 more of those for your list. Of course after your post to LS1 perhaps you should be looking for 52 to 72 more. I think there are plenty of folks in the transfer portal but the only ones we are currently allowed to speak with are the graduate transfers. Hopefully you will acknowledge we have no business even speaking with a bunch of those as they would never make our team. But that is a subjective qualifier. You made a claim that there are 30 to 40 and we are still waiting to see that list from you. Thanks.
Here ya go, You’ll see below that Farrell says “Grad transfer” FarrellPortal @farrellportal · Follow San Diego State TE Mark Redman, who transferred in from Washington, re-entered the portal as a grad transfer; in two seasons with the Aztecs he totaled 58 rec for 633 yards and 5 TD @MarkRedman20 @mfarrellsports
