I think in that case it's because everyone knows who the problem is in this situation...it isn't UM or Ruiz! "Money" has shown what kind of lid he is. Rashada, on the other hand, doesn't seem like a bag chaser. All perception, of course.
Which part of Jaden Rashada comes across as not being a money chaser? The kid committed to UM for the bags...
On the best information at the time Mertz seemed the best fit with only one year of eligibility to not scare off Rashada.
UF/FSU and other schools are specifically NOT allowed to consider legacy in admissions decisions. Those suggesting otherwise are incorrect, and I suspect that a "college advisor" who suggested legacies were discriminated against was trying to explain their failure to get kids into a school or ease the parents/kids pain. UF Admissions Facts and Myths - Admission By Design Harvard accepts 33% of alumni kids and orders of magnitude less non alum kids. Is that what we want to be? Do we really want to take kids of college grads who perform worse than other kids? Would we accept that on the football team? Absurd, right. The UGA example is accurate. Our issue is not admissions but coaching, facilities, and now NIL. Urban won with high academic standards. The connection between UF being a top 5 school and our football failures is coincidence not causal. Michigan is top 5 and they made the playoffs. This canard needs to die.
