Syracuse is about to play with relentless effort……for about three years until the recruiting effort shows up. How are Syracuse’s facilities?
Dan might be a good fit at an ACC school without high expectations. He's pretty good at play calling.
IMO it was more than that. I'm a firm believer that while DM was here and even before him big bucks were going to the top recruits (legallly or illegally) and the gumps and mutts were in the game for them but we were not. That had nothing to do with DM as he wasn't controlling the money. Now as far as the lesser recruits go, our lack of decent salesmanship, facilities, etc. might've made a difference. But I would rather allocate people and other resources to recruiting rather than have the head coach spend a lot of time on it. I find it hard to imagine that SOS spent any more time on recruiting than DM did. And I certainly don't think of SOS as a great salesman. I'd have kept DM, fired Grantham, Hevesy and probably a few others, and set up a recruiting system like the gumps/mutts. Oh, and hired the best DC I could. Good OC's are hard to find nowadays and if you have one that is the head coach it usually makes it easier to keep one. Usually.
I've kinda lost interest since we aren't very good anymore and the f'ing mutts are. Hell, it was bad enough when the gumps were winning all the time. Dark days the last few years.
On the surface it seemed like his comments, about our lack of facilities... was an excuse to mitigate his own words about "recruiting season..."
I know what you mean, but it is something to consider if he is looking for another school to give false hope to.
Hope you're right but last 10 years or so every time things start to get better, they get worse. Wouldn't be so bad if the stupid mutts weren't so good. Sickening.
Could be. I don't pay much attention to CFB anymore. Basically get all my info from Gator message boards.
Western New York is nothing like NYC. In fact most of New York the state has little in common with the city. He will be just fine.
