Glad our game is in SLC next week with storm coming. Of course living in Central Florida I'll will probably lose power on Wednesday and won't be able to watch it on Thursday....

 

This is exactly what I have referenced many times about how national media pales in comparison to local coverage. In 94 the national mags were clamoring about our lack of wr depth. Meanwhile, Gatorbait magazine was raving about our freshmen wide outs performances in practice. The rest is history.

 

Weve got 3 great ones coming in as freshmen. Surprised they didn't mention the one wide receiver we have retuning for another year after last seasons injury...Andre Debose.

 

And the receivers love Mertz. They say he throws a catchable ball and gets it there on time.

 

to be fair, it’s the same army and evaluators that chose Jack Miller as the transfer qb of choice the year before.

 

Well Napier will be judged by the teams performance of course. Myself I will be in the gaggle that sharpens focus on record the 24 and 25 seasons should he last that long. Barring the bottom dropping out,(less than 5 wins), this year or a player revolt I believe it prudent to let the man develop the program for at least 4 years. Next seasons schedule is the most brutal I have ever seen.

 

Tbf we don't know what Miller has because he hasn't had a chance to show it healthy, despite staying healthy at OSU. I think the coaches got it right in Mertz. There was no big time transfer QB out there, just ones that got some hype playing against terrible defenses.

 

Miller was brought on as a depth guy. At that time we had AR, Carlos Del-Rio Wilson and Kitna. He was unknown whereas at least Mertz has a ton of starting experience. After Thursday we'll have a much better idea if they took the right guy.

 

Shane M is really high on the incoming reciever core.

 

I see why. They are really impressive. I saw an article stating that Mertz had exceptional receivers at Wisconsin, so he couldn't blame any of his troubles on them, and I had to lol. I watched a lot of his pass attempts, and he had some competent receivers and some incompetent receivers. But one thing is certain, he had no one even slightly comparable to the skill set EW3 brings nor even what Pearsall has developed into. Mertz has to be really happy at Florida. I'm not saying that our offense will definitely be among the leaders in the conference. A lot of that will depend on the OL. But there is a lot to build on at receiver, and someone as accurate as Mertz can really use that to his advantage.

 

If even one freshman shows out that will be cool.

Pearsall could be elite this year if we have someone who can deliver to him.

It's really not hard to say your piece without "rando" conflict around here - unless of course conflict is what you came here for in the first place.
