Sure they don't but that still doesn't negate the fact that it is a one year scholarship. And at the end of that one year the player has satisfied the agreement and should not be bound to stay if they choose to seek out another scholarship at another university. let alone they should not be forced to sit out a year if choosing to transfer multiple times after satisfying their end of the agreement and staying one year/term each time.

It should not. They play in different conferences. They played who was in front of them on their schedule.

The only time SOS should come into play is when wins and losses are equal. Then you can get into nuance of scheduling.

We gave out 4 year scholly’s for years. Did we stop doing this? We even let plenty stay 5-6 years, and continued to take care of them,

So you think ucf should have been a multiple national champion winner?

Doesn't matter and you are being biased by your conference allegiance.
The only time it matters is when you have equal W/L then you look at who you played.

If you went by your thinking, every 2/3 loss SEC team should get in over a undefeated or 1 loss team in any other conference.

No because they are not considered a power 5 school. If they played in a P5 conference and had their same record then yes they should have been in the playoffs.
TCU is a power 5 school so they must be looked at as an equal to all other power 5 schools. If not then what is the point? Only SEC schools should be allowed to play for championships?

Yes! Actually only us! We’re pretty tough on ourselves. I’m not even sure we could win if we were the only team.

It isn’t conference “allegiance” as you say. I stopped pulling for SEC teams after we finally could stop living vicariously through other teams and started winning our own championships. I have zero “allegiance” to the corrupt Bama/Georgia managed SEC. So it’s not allegiance, it’s recognition that any 2-loss team playing an SEC schedule is likely better than any 1-loss team out of the Big 12.

As stated earlier, did you think UCF was really a national champion because they went undefeated in the Commuter School Conference?

    Then my apologies.

I still think this is mostly a moot point as nobody I’m aware of has really shown a habit of not renewing scholarships for non disciplinary reasons. If the kids want to stay, we generally find a way to let them stay. And we generally even let them stay past 4 years.

no apologies needed, we are having a civil discussion.

As far as letting them stay, thats because the coach has a need for them. We always talk about a player being "processed out". If that player really said to the coach that he wants to stay and the coach wants them gone. He will find a way to make it so.

How many years in a row has a sec team won the championship. Isn’t it something like 19 out of twenty?

My disagreement with you comes from the point that there has to be a set of guidelines to follow when choosing teams for the playoffs.

Those guidelines in part use W/L record at face value.

If a committee is going to dissect every W/L then why bother even having a playoff? Just crown the SEC champion every year. They are considered the best conference.

I don’t know if you saw my other post on the other thread, but I elaborated a bit more there. I’ll just add it here..moral to the story is, if the kid will not leave on his own, and we absolutely have to have his roster spot, we likely still make a home for him.

“The only players I’ve seen actually have their scholly’s “revoked” are walk ons, and that’s a different scenario. If we have extra scholly’s, it makes sense to use them, and let these kids who work so hard to help the team get a free semester or two, but we will likely need the scholly back for the following years incoming class.

I don’t ever recall a scholarship athlete having their scholly revoked for non disciplinary reasons. We have given lots of kids 5 and 6 years worth of free school, housing, food, etc. Quite a few who weren’t top contributors too.

We’re going to have exit interviews at the end of each season to discuss where the players fit the following year. Some are going to be told they don’t really have a role here and should likely explore other options, but we aren’t just simply taking their scholarships away. If we truly don’t have the roster room and they absolutely want to stay here, we likely even figure out how to make that work for them. Grad assistant, hardship, etc.”

*shit it’s the same thread. I’m losing it, haha

I would be okay with that. The power five is such a misnomer. It’s the SEC, 2 of the big ten, two of the ACC(I am being generous, and maybe two of the pac 10

I don't disagree with this. I have been a proponent of a super conference. 30 top tier teams that only play each other.
