I don't know much, but one thing I do know is how sound behaves in structures. I've been an Acoustical Consultant for over 27 years and designed my fair share of performing arts venues, among 1,000 other projects. So, I can tell you that as long as the shape of the stadium doesn't change, which I suspect it won't, then going from 93,000 to 85,000 people, assuming they all yell with the same effort as always, the sound level would be reduced by 0.4 decibels (dB), which is not noticable to humans. You would need at least a 3 dB difference for it to be somewhat noticeable, which would require reducing the capacity by 50%.

I remember during the 94 broadcast of the Georgia game at the Swamp where they discussed some of the features that made the stadium so loud. They mentioned the field being below grade, the angular nature of the structure and some of the concrete walls and metal cladding. Never vetted any of that but it seems like it would make sense.

I think the fact that the sides are uninterrupted instead of tiered makes a big difference too

The shape defintiley contributes to the sound levels in there. Having an angled overhead plane over the upper seating, say for keeping the rain or sun off of the fans up there, would really help amplify the sound levels down on the field.

We lost to Vandy last year and pretty bad by the way..until we change that i wouldn’t be bringing up anyone’s record versus ours.

I'm not saying this because they have the upper hand in the series at the moment but this is pretty disgusting entitlement and arrogance especially given the recent deaths involved with ruggs and Carter incidents. How tone deaf can someone be?

Kids will be kids and we've all done stupid things but this is next level given the context of it.

Yes, because a new stadium guarentees a Natty? UGA is NOT loud and I doubt we have to make our stadium less loud to make it even better than it is. The 8,000 deduction is the max so I want to say that we do NOT need to reduce our seating capacity down that much to make our stadium one of the best in the nation.

That's good to know... now can we just keep the seat-delete down to under 2,000. :D;)

Thank you for your expertise input on this matter.
