The bigger problem is that Billy wanted him and Kirby took him no problem. This is just a symptom of the problem.
Georgia right now takes whoever they want. We don’t. That may change in the future but whatever limitations we have cash wise, I doubt we make a habit of bidding wars. He had a chance to be a gator and chose to be a dog. It is what it is. Next.
After this weeks visits I am reading the recruits reaction same ole same ole on the top offensive targets: they gave me something to think about Florida is right up there had a great visit I don't expect any commitments right away from this weekends visits although Mincey maybe hope I get surprised but the responses I read where very MEH TE/WR Odom- no clue TE Mathews -USC TE Karner-maybe UF 3* OL Mascol-LSU OL Uini -Bama OL Williams- Gator 3* WR- Robinson - Cane WR Hawkins - Penn State S Mincey-Gator DL Harvey- Penn State (closer to home) CB Denton-Gator? (Raymond) S Hampton -FSU Juco DE Ivory- Gator DL Boireau -Gator just my impression of the weekend will hope for better behind the scene news Been very quiet from the "insiders" don't know if thats good or bad
Williams would be big. Everybody wants him despite lower ranking. Losing Mascoll to LSU would hurt with all the attention he gave us. Mincey will probably play the game for a while. He has lots of options.
I posted this on another thread, too… If you’re able to get it, read the front page article in today’s Atlanta Journal/Constitution about the “reckless culture” at uga. I will continue to support our Head Coach and our University in not subordinating values to winning.
I hate to say this, but I wonder if Billy is too "nice" and not "cut throat" enough. There's a certain "edge" that so far I haven't seen Billy show but if he does develop that, he'll turn this around sooner rather than later
If you want to beat Bama, you have to outwork them. Saban demands 44 weeks per year and 7 days each week. Billy does not do that, as he is married and has hound kids. Billy has an excellent work ethic but stated thd Army purpose was to allow coaches to have quality time with families. You will not outwork Saban and Kirby.
Or just write the check. I bet that’s the best strategy. It’ll cost a little more for schools not tgat have not won the big game. It’s sad but the highest bidder will get tge majority of players. It’ll be tough to beat Bama or Georgia without pulling those classes.
The problem is also that UF is trying to haul itself out of a decade-plus stay in a very deep ditch. I won't recite our history since '09, no long-term Gator Fan needs to hear it again. Also, TBCFH, our friend in Athens is not only leaps and bounds better than UF in recruiting, proven coaching history, roster depth AND overall existing roster talent, he holds a similar advantage over all but a few programs. I'm not going to play into the gathering catastrophe narrative, either. Instead of getting lost in the weeds or going schizoid right out of the gate, let's look at a couple of obvious facts before we flip the hell out on momentary BS: Every Gator fan hates to see them struggle and fail. We all know that. But it seems that we have some hole trolls, and maybe even a canethang or two. I'm not naming names or insulting anyone, but between the trolls and the Gator fans who have apparently already written CBN off after a tough year, it can get a little goofy in here on occasion. Also, last year saw some incredibly vexing moments that served to illustrate just how much Billy and staff must grow, and how far we have fallen relative to the glory years of the program. I doubt that anyone is likely to seriously predict a great season this year. Billy obviously has much to prove, but the negativity being generated both here and elsewhere is totally unjustified at this point in time. Billy's not going anywhere before '26 at the absolute soonest. If you're a Gator, stele yourself for what lies ahead. If not, get a job or a new hobby or something.
