Once you posted his injury in another thread, I became more interested in Zavier Mincey. However, we already have two on board (and Filsaime looks like an early contributor) so Pride is probably worth taking a chance on.
I like the accountability of the young man (we're not recruiting him, just thought this was interesting) https://247sports.com/player/kaleb-jones-46139050/
Let me preface this comment by stating that I am a U.F. alumni who grew up in Gainesville and I have been attending games for close to 50 years now (man am I getting old ). I respect the opinions of all members on this board however when I hear comments indicating that the U.F. administration doesn't care about sports it saddens me. In my opinion one of the main purposes of U.F. administration and it's admissions office should to uphold the integrity and standards of U.F.. I'm sure there are many factors that go into reviewing transfers or new enrollees and my only hope is that people in the admissions office responsible for making those decisions make them fairly and consistently following the guidelines they have to follow. When you look at things from the big picture of the university as a whole the athletic program doesn't move the needle financially. U.F. research alone brings in around 1.7 Billion in operating revenue which when compared to the 141 million in operating revenue the athletic program brings in it doesn't make sense to jeopardize our status as a premier institution by making questionable enrollment decisions just to get a couple players on the field. I wasn't a math major at U.F. but based on the published financial statements below it looks like U.F. research brings in about 12 times the revenue the athletic program does so taking that into consideration, there's no comparison financially as to what is and what should be more important from an administration standpoint. U.F. Annual Financial Report https://www.fa.ufl.edu/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/UF_AFR_2021-22.pdf U.F. Athletic Association Report 2021-2022 Executive Budget Summary (PDF) - Florida Gators Anyway I didn't mean this response as an attack at any poster quoted above so please don't take it that way. I just wanted to point out the value of our administration because they're making decisions that impact more than one aspect of the university as a whole. Now let's get back to learning about new recruits and other information like this thread is supposed to provide. Go Gators!
Count me in the minority who agree. I can disparage our less academically rigid rivals with a clear conscience.
I love our overall "Everything" status. We are a premier university for athletics of all kinds with many NCAA championships and also Olympic winners and we are a top academic university. Some will care about both , some or none of those aspects but it does bring its own sense of pride knowing UF exceeds at all those things.
I would hope so. He is excellent on his own, and if he could get his DT classmate here too, it would be a cherry on top. I really like both of them. The central strip of FL is really loaded this year, and we need to take advantage of that to get a top 4 class.
Played high school in Orlando. Hrad transfer with 2 years eligibility remaining. Offers from Florida, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, etc. College highlights
Probably lost a battle of the check books. Referring to a player, I prefer they stick with whatever deal they make. The ones always wanting more and looking over their shoulder at the portal aren’t the ones I would want.
I don't know about that. I have a feeling that what this really says Napier isn't comfortable with the QB situation and doesn't see a solution. He might feel that his best chance to win is with a ground and pound running game and strong defense, kind of like the 2012 team. Can't have too many good RBs if that's the plan.
It's more about '24. ETN will likely be the only back with any experience then unless we get a portal, and we will probably not find a better one.
