I think AR the type of QB that was not going to be NFL day 1 ready had he come back for two years.

I know there are QB’s who can play through growing pains and while AR is talented and this was his first season as a the starter, he still showed imo, from body language that is, he would get eaten alive mentally if he was played too early in the NFL because he IS going to struggle.

obviously we all agreed he made the best choice financially and stock wise by going to the NFL, but he isn’t ready to throw it 25+ times a game in the NFL. Would love him in Houston with Pierce tbh

And it’s just rough in the nfl when you need your legs to be effective. Running is an enormous plus but relying on it to be successful will make for a very short career. There’s a reason most rbs have such short careers, those dudes are big, fast, and will lay that wood.

Gonna be a bunch of people griping about it here. Given the recruiting history with Mullen I'll understand their concerns but I like his track record of WRs with fundamentals going back to the Meyer days and ever since

Not a bad choice considering some of the other names I read as possibilities.

Brought a lot. Ran for 654 yards and kept defense focusing on him instead of Etienne and Johnson. If you don’t think that’s true, ask any DC from the opposing team who they were most worried about and the answer was hands down AR. He had lots of good moments and that’s with a non qb friendly offense with limited receiving options.

I’m kinda thinking a QB friendly offense May have had us in a position where we didn’t have to throw hail Mary’s against powerhouses like Vandy.

I love the orbit motion. Really bet they kept Kirby up at night wondering how to defense the throw to Hendo 2 yards behind the line of scrimmage.

Yeah Kirby was really worried about those wide open over and under throws too!

Worried about AR’s legs as evidenced by his 654 yards rushing and his long ball. Can’t imagine what AR could have done if that Orbit motion was eliminated and that guy ran a route. Amazing numbers he put up despite this particular style of offense and it’s limitations.

I agree that being in a position that required AR to win the game on the last play was problematic

And d coordinators had no fear on 3rd and 8. He’s physically gifted but by no means a great qb as of now.

Zero receivers who were top 10 at their position, only one who was top 20 (Hendo, who we're still waiting to see much from), none that have contributed in any meaningful way, and 2 that transferred out after multiple seasons of average (at best) play. But sure...he can recruit.

Some of your takes make me think you're just messing with us

Look the guy has colossal arm..no question but all freaking year when we needed a hail mary before half or at the end of the game something god awful would happen and the ball wouldn’t even be something that had a chance. I would expect either him holding in to the ball for a game ending sack..a 15 yard scamper to run out the clock..a fumble or a ball 15 yards shy of the end zone or even worse the 16th row completion deep in the south end zone which unfortunately doesn’t net you six points in the game of football. It was crazy very very few of those plays stood a chance to change the scoreboard..and that i’m sure wasn’t on Napier and staff. Awareness on those plays were in the words of Dean Wormer zero point zero.

True but you can also look at how 2 different qbs under the same tutelage responded to the same coaching. One of the biggest complaints about our offense under franks was that he rarely hit people in stride or that our receivers couldn't get separation. Trask come in and those complaints were all but erased.
