Which is the issue considering CBN didn't really have a dual threat QB and certainly not one with the legs of AR. Feels like a missed opportunity

This debate is simple: ACC vs SEC.

Put Duke in the SEC and us in the ACC and this debate would be in reverse.

Nonetheless, their coach deserves a lot of credit....a turnaround of this nature is really impressive. It's just nearly impossible in the SEC, and for sure will NOT happen with a roster like Duke's in the SEC.

Duke is in the ACC... soft azz schedule. Our players and team showed moments of being a top 10 team against a brutal schedule, way harder than Duke's.

In the first game of the year against Utah, and in other games, like at A&M and against every good USCe team. We played lights out good. And lets not forget that in the 3rd quarter of the UGA game, where we forced 3 turnovers, we looked every bit as talented and UGA... till we ran out of gas and good backups.

We lost mostly because a combination of lack of quality depth and player/scheme mismatches that our coaches implemented, especially on defense. Sure we could have used two or three 5* star talented players on both sides of the ball, but talent on our starting teams were still good enough to beat Kentucky, Vandy and FSU. Win those games and we're having a different conversation right now.

But if we want to be honest with our selves the QB position killed us, that kept our defense on the field way too long. A good offense can save a defense. And the lack of sustained offensive drives in several games wore us out on defense.

The special teams was a complete joke, that has to be fixed.

By the end of the year I think several players had already checked out mentally.

Kirby had a top 5 class in year 2 at Georgia before they were rolling in the wins. So did Saban after going 6-6. It can be done.

And both of those schools were paying illegally for those players. Both those schools locked down their own states.

We can’t pay illegally, we don’t pay enough legally. And, while not locking the state down, this class is mostly from Florida. Still a lot of work to do, but there are promising signs.

you’re arguing in bad faith if you’re gonna sit here and compare bama/UGA in a pre-NIL world to what Napier has done this year

Impressive what he did in year 1 regardless of conference. Duke and UF are night and day in comparisons though. I’m much more interested in building a program with a long-term vision then appeasing some fans with a couple more wins this year. Scholarship players is turning over > 60% from 2021 to 2022. 9 of 22 (41%) positions from 2022 had Napes portal or recruits in action at some point. 2024 is my prediction we are back competing with GA and LSU not Vandy, KY and Mizzou. 2023 will look a lot like 2022 unfortunately but I’m good if the progression is there and recruiting continues to improve (top 5 for 23).

Not calling anyone in particular out but those individuals complaining about not paying for recruits are hopefully also writing a check to U.F. or the collective so we can make more competitive bids for players. :)

No, what I am saying is, just about everyone that is offered a bag will take it. That is expected. No matter their relationship with the staff, or if Stanford also offered. No matter that we recently had the highest selected tight end in the draft. I expect that teenage to follow the money, but before now not everyone was receiving a bag. They went where they wanted to go for any amount of various reasons.

I do through my business. However, like my taxes, I don’t get any say in how it’s used. UF’s choice to concentrate on existing roster is commendable, but probably won’t help win some head to heads for the elite guys. I think that’s what most people are concerned about.

That makes more sense to me than a kid wanting to be close to home. I wanted to get the hell out VA Beach when I finished HS.
