Is this a case of the coaches wanting to go to a different type of line blocking scheme where certain skills are needed more than others? I didn’t play line and have no idea. Hoping the coaches have a plan..

 

At least we’ll have 20 players to suit up in 2023.

Avocado Toast

 

Well that’s the PWO that Coach Napier was talking about in his last presser.

He played for the IMG white team, not the main team. That’s not to say he isn’t any good. He was rated a 3 star and has good size, and is a capable runner. His completion percentage was under 50%, so he has work to do, but obviously he has chance to improve.
He is originally from Nebraska, and appears to be a tough competitor. I’m happy we got him, but he doesn’t appear to be ready to compete for any meaningful playing time right away… still as a PWO, why not give him a shot.

 

He is like insurance, you hope you never need to use him, but he’s there just in case. Of course we probably could have said that about Trask when he signed.

 

I think a lot of “us” did say that about Trask. A few that knew his story knew that there was a chance he’d be something more though. I’m sorry it took a nasty injury for us to get to see exactly how special he was, but I’m sure glad we did get to see it.

 

There is some talk among some pundits ( and I use that term loosely ) on other sites that both White and Tarquin are testing the portal to see what offers come.
I don’t know that I believe that considering Rosemary’s statement, but I hope that is the case because they would have at least done it legally. The problem is that once they enter the portal, UF can release them for scholarship obligations immediately… at least that is the way I understand it.
Rosemary White and Ethan appear to be good people but I admit I don’t know either of them personally. She appears to be a single Mom who as such is understandably super protective of her boys. (In her favor, she does love fishing)
I think it’s best that we wish him well, thank him for his time as a Gator, and his Mother for being a solid Gator supporter while Ethan was here, and let it lie. JMO

 

We don’t have to let them back in, but we certainly can, and we currently have the room to do so. We let Reeves back in on the basketball team. He did the portal hokey pokey last year, got a sufficient nil deal out of it, and chose to stay here. It’s a much bigger gamble in the sports with limited schollys, especially if you aren’t at the top of the depth chart. I think there’s a couple football guys we would allow back. From the outside, there’s a few I would like to have back, but I don’t know exactly what led to them entering in the first place. The guys who were starting, I’d certainly think we could find room for, but who knows? Cox was a starter, right up until he wasn’t, and he was dismissed with prejudice.
