You have to trust the staff to evaluate and Napier & Co certainly seem thorough.

Stars do matter, to a point. Size and frame wise for a HS player, the TE out of WA state looks similar to the prototypical NFL TE like Kelce or Kittle. Athletic 6'4", 250lb players out of HS isn't all that common. Kelce was a 2 star while Kittle was a 3 star. Talent certainly can fall through the cracks of these recruiting rankings.

 

Stars matter but coaching matters and whats between his ears and his strength of heart matter. Thats why the 12th ranked tight end became what he did. Who are the 11 rated ahead of him?
