This whole stinking mess is a perversion of what was intended by the NIL model and could probably have been prevented if a reasonable and closely regulated system for player compensation had been instituted before the courts got involved and the Ruiz types were able to dictate the terms of engagement. Now it's just a straight-up cesspool with no redeeming value to anyone who actually cares about the best interests of CFB or the "rights" of the players. My only hope is that scUM, just like ATM before them, discovers that creating a top-heavy caste system in which a handful of unproven "superstars" live like maharajas while the peonies get bupkis is not a formula for long-term success. FTR, I personally prefer having a class that boasts a blue-chip ratio of 85% (UF), in which the money gets spread around a bit, vs. one with a BC avg. of 58% (scUM). In the fullness of time, we will find out who is doing it right and who is throwing money away on a pipe dream of instant gratification.

 

Unsurprisingly Jimbo had lockerroom problems at FSU and aTm, so it is too hard to guage whether he will be the outlier and others flashing the cash will be just fine or NIL will ruin the quality of college football. Either way I don't care. I would watch UF if we played sprint football with the Ivy league instead of big time football.
