I wonder what people would have paid Antonneous Clayton a few years back. These players are making a killing before proving anything. They better save up that money and get that degree.

 

What do you mean before proving anything? They wouldn't be getting these big money offers if they haven't already proven something in HS. Leading teams deep into playoffs and winning state championships.

 

Running on emotion like the stock market. What % of busts will slow it down? Or will it keep going among the money to burn folks. Next up betting on players

 

Damon Wilson plays 8A ball. Won the state championship in 2021 and is playing for another one next week. He is the star on his team.
He has earned every dollar being thrown at him.

 

I mean to each their own. But I’ve yet to meet a teenager worth 2.6 million dollars who hasn’t played a snap of college ball. This is getting ridiculous.

 

You can say the same about a college player getting drafted. He never played pro ball yet they're getting paid. It's the same from HS to college

 

When High school football brings in TV revenue, jersey sales and other sources of revenue then they will be worth that. JaMarcus Russell wasn't worth what the raiders paid him but he had value in college. High schoolers have prospective value but its nothing until they produce in college. How much money did Decoldest Crawford bring in AC sales before he entered the portal after a year?

 

But it's not your money so why do you care?
Also are you going to a hypocrite and cheer for the players UF paid for? Because Rashada and others didn't come for free.

 

I don’t think cheering for UF in the midst of this “NIL” (pay for play) circus makes anybody a hypocrite. What the hell are we supposed to do, stop watching? Pull for other teams?

I’ll pull for the Gators till the end. I hate what’s happening to college football but I’ll be damned if pulling for Florida makes me a hypocrite

I presented an explanation as to why high school kids don't have that value yet. You then changed the argument. This isn't the first time you come at people during a simple discussion.

Why do I care? I don't care how a kid benefits from it one way or the other because it isn't my money. Do I think this current business model is healthy or sustainable for a game I once loved? Not really. I think it's going to hurt parity which has already suffered because certain schools have gotten away with playing by a different set of rules for a while now.

I cheer the uniform more than I cheer a player. I cheer good people and I cheer players who give their all. At my age I don't care much for celebrity or any individual athlete once they go pro. I don't care either way. Like watching the chiefs and Mahomes but when he leaves ill cheer the next qb that comes in.

Nowhere have I bad mouthed kids for making money. I think boosters, coaches, TV networks, agents and fans are to blame for what has happened.

Actually it does because UF is buying players as well. And you will cheer for them.

 

I will cheer for the guys in Orange & Blue no matter what name is on the back of the jersey. If you really think that makes me a hypocrite there’s no sense in continuing this discussion.

 

That 12 year old was my babysitter. I’m 39.

I didn't come at you. It's amazing how thin skinned you are. I presented that these high value players have earned it by being winners and having skills. I do think those rallying against players getting paid are hypocrites because they will be cheering on the same players in the coming years and will conveniently forget they got NIL to come to Florida.
As Stink said I cheer for the Gators, it makes no difference to me how much the players are making.
