They have had 25 winning seasons prior to Mullen over 115 years. Dan added 8 more. It is probably the least desirable school in the least desirable town in the toughest division, of the toughest conference. I think most would say that is successful.

He is just not the guy to lead a high profile program. We need to stop acting like his 20+ years of coaching was all luck and smoke & mirrors. I can see him landing a job like Boston College, Virginia or Louisville and doing just fine. His biggest problem is that he comes across as unlikeable and needs a smaller fish bowl to operate in.

yea I agree with your second paragraph. He’s the same as how I feel about McElwain. They aren’t ones to lead a big time program but give them a program where 7 to 9 wins keeps them happy, and they’ll thrive there

 

And he didn't have to castrate any livestock in front of the team.

 

Dan Mullen did very well at Mississippi State… a school that has never had a history of sustained success, but I count 45 wins before Mullen’s tenure… it doesn’t change the point at all but the correct number doesn’t appear to be 25.

 

I think the bigger surprise would be FSU finishing in the middle of the pack. But then again, the ACC is a middle of the pack pack.

 

I stand corrected. You are correct. When I looked it up it took me to 1942 and then there was another page. My point was he can still win long term somewhere, just not here …or at any of the top 15-20 programs.
