If we are waiting on human honesty to straighten this out, I wouldn’t hold my breath. I have no problem with Florida taking the high road and winning 7-10 games a year and a ny6 win being the highlight of the decade. That said, I’ll take the trip to the rigs for the weekend and watch that Kentucky win when I get back.

The "civil war" between upper classmen and the '10 guys was news to me. Hearing how Orr and them got in a fight with pouncy and the other older guys almost causing a mass exodus of transfers is nuts.

I think they did win a few. They just may be on their way back if buying teams is going to be how it’s done.

So the thing is, we're kind of cheating already, only half-ways, if that makes sense.
Collectives aren't "allowed" and they're raising millions from boosters (who can't have any relation to athletes), and there are probably NIL talks with recruits and some kind of offers made.
What the admin won't allow is to give cash advances or have the NIL deals signed before they enroll, even though it could be post-dated and no one would find out unless the athlete documents all the proof and turns himself in.

Of course some are more careless than others like the aTm assistant, the public statement from the Miami bb player and the terrible contract Rashada's agent made public.

So it's not simply "We want to cheat!" If we already assume the NCAA won't enforce what we're already doing, and everyone else is cheating all the way, why are we behind going half-ways with something that could be done without getting caught like the others and we play by the same rules. The money is there to do it.

I HAVE NEVER lost sight of the fact that UF's charter was and is, to provide an education and a future to it's students, and to benefit the community and the nation through academics and research.

Football is second fiddle, a nice distraction from everyday life. Sure, UF football has grown long tentacles relating to jobs, the media and the hotel, restaurant and entertainment industry but that PALES to the real purpose of the University, comparatively speaking.

Sometimes I wonder how many people lose sight of that.

For myself and most fans, Football does nothing more than entertain, the success or failure of UF football has little to do with the realities of most of our lives.

I totally agree but that’s why we have the First Amendment . Two completely separate things. Nobody gives two shits on Saturday what an Alabama law degree is worth or even if they have a law degree. You’ve heard Copeland speak right? He was going to be an engineer. Thinking one has anything to do with the other may be very confusing to some I guess. Most football fans don’t care. I’m mixed because I can’t stand the nfl and I do like the team aspect of college football but it has zero to do with academics for me. I just like the blue collar go to war team aspect tgat the nfl lost long ago.

Totally agree, one doesn't make the other better or worse, we can have both and we can want to be great at both.
Only part that affects the other is that FB does help maintain all the other sports including title IX, along with a few extra millions donated to the academic side, and it does raise recognition to the school.

I'm not sure why you think UF would need to sacrifice the ability to provide an education in order to compete in football. The two have nothing to do with each other.

Agreed, provided we remember it's the University of Florida and not the University of Football.

They both exist separately. No need to prop either up
