Part of my pre-game ritual involves hoping, with all of my heart, that Gator fans present themselves with grace and deference over the Internet. Same ritual as my post-game and my game-game. I can't even enjoy a touchdown unless I can picture a bunch of our fans standing around a bar top, celebrating the effort of the other team with warm hugs to their fans while filling the air with silence and supplication.

I spend a great deal of time thinking about other people and how they measure up to still other people.

 

You can be dismissive and patronizing but in the day and age of fans interacting with players on social mwdia as well as lazy "journalists" like pat Dooley and others the behavior of "gator fans" have been issues in media as well as with players/recruits and families.

It was sad to watch Emory Jones father defend his son against the social media mob this past season. That was one situation where actual Gator fans showed their asses.

Lastly, I guess you save your concern to respond to anonymous fans on message boards?

 

I hope Emory does well with his new team.

I also roll my eyes when people say things like, "All women...", "All Americans...", "Comic book fans...". They say more about themselves than those they purportedly describe.

Pat Dooley wants to toss millions of people into custom bins to make himself feel better about himself? He's expressing himself with nothing more than his brain stem. Who cares what he thinks? It's not what I think.

Yeah, those people were jackasses. They were jackasses.

I post on message boards to have fun and express myself. I do not feel the slightest shame in how other people conduct their business.

My only pregame ritual was to have sex with my wife on game-day mornings but that tailed off around 2010. Holy crap! It's her fault the Gators went down the toilet.

The only difference of opinions we share is the significance of these events as it pertains to the Florida Gators with today's shallow journalism and widespread audience that social media has given to any idiot as they can affect players, recruits and families directly. When you see a player's father's futile effort to defend his son against a mob it becomes significant. Not that it should and I'd rather family members stay away from those places unless they can handle the criticism and realize every population will have their idiots.

I don't "worry" about other people's opinions but I can acknowledge that what used to be a drowned out relatively unheard of contingent now interacts with players and lazy journalists scower social media pages and forums to make stories that can be detrimental. That's all.

 

Is anyone else having problems with chrome crashing (mobile) when some tweets are embedded? Not sure why it’s happening. I just know it happens when there is a tweet trying to load.

Me too on mobile. Twitter embeds weren't showing up, just the bird. Started a couple of weeks ago.

 

I just went to safari. Tweets load but not instantly. Reason I switched to Apple is my son and presumably my grandson are on apple.

 

YES - and it happens on my cell phone and iPad. Locks up completely. No locking up issues (yet) on laptop — — I’m not running chrome on the laptop but tweets won’t load on it
