Looks like an effort to keep nil down by making laws but of course, everyone won’t go along. We do appear to be on the outside looking in or maybe a step behind. Nape seems like a detail guy though so maybe he saw all this coming and has a plan. If I saw this coming, so did he if he’s as smart as we think he is.

I think there is definitely a "playing with house money" aspect to Napier's situation.

Having the NIL upheaval (and UF's unique philosophy toward it) fall in his lap before he coaches a game and so it becomes just one more element of the rebuild and developing a foundation. It will kind of get lost in the wash of the overall transition and won't matter if they can iron it out over 18 months.

If he were going into year 3 after going 17-9, then NIL hits and UF falls behind in recruiting for a cycle or two, that's a massive problem.

It’s a massive problem that we fall behind in recruiting day one. Can’t be reactionary we got to be in the forefront always. I’m just not so sure that we don’t have a plan and we just don’t know what it is yet. Not signing top classes cannot be a plan

I fully expect us to drop some big bags in December with the expectation of turning a few kids the staff has built strong relationships with. Just because the same kids that had glowing reviews of there visits to UF committed elsewhere, doesn't mean UF still isn't in their ear.

Hold a spot somewhere else they like, probably grab a little cash in the interim, then seriously consider a flip once UF is ready to get out the checkbook. Riskier strategy, but really the only play Napier has at this point. I doubt he's just acquiescing to taking a class of 3 star go-getters knowing that no one is signing an LOI until Dec.

Sounds like it could be a good strategy that 29 other schools will have.

Well and if schools are actually paying these kids up front it would be difficult for them to complain about kids going somewhere else. Hard to say give us the illegal money back. Ala Fred Taylor

Agree. Hopefully they did a good enough job with traditional recruiting stuff that there is a shot at a few.

Good news is most of the other programs also bidding war handicapped for various reasons at the moment don't have UFs status (and hopefully funds).

Yep. That last 48 hours before ESD is going to be a wild ride for all programs. That's when the real bidding wars are going to happen. Zero recourse for anyone that has kids bail at the 11th hour.

Could be, but if they get post-dated contracts they probably get them to sign post-dated receipts or something. Still, I'm sure most could get out of their contracts and simply pay back what they got with the money from the new school.

We'll see, but history says there's a much higher chance to maintain kids committed than flipping them, especially with deals and having taken cash, and if they do it'll have to be crazy cash thrown around. Unfortunately, history also says the season record doesn't really affect that year's recruiting class much at all, unless maybe you win the title.

im not sure if this makes sense to me. Who is holding us back from dropping big bags now? What would be the point waiting?
