Ticket prices for competitive games are so high now, that there are definitely some people (e.g. families with a bunch of kids) who can't afford to go to anything but a lesser game with the current pricing structure. I also like a couple of games to warm up before we have to play the conference schedule, just like teams like Alabama do. I say keep a couple of cupcakes... there's nothing like a good shellacking to get Gator Nation warmed up.

If you like oysters, the Charleston area in the fall is heaven. Seems like an oyster roast almost every weekend at some of the plantations, the bus shed, etc. A lovely time to be there.

Somehow we seem to be trending in the wrong direction, all the top guys we lead for now have Crystal balls for other teams, just now had a de commitment and we can’t seem to close on any prospects that visit our campus. Meanwhile Miami is 14th in team rankings and kicking our asses.

Other schools are offering actual money/contracts from the start. Maybe UF is saying we’ll help you get deals and this is what our current players are making? That’s the only thing I can wrap my head around as to why.

Probably. I’ve just accepted UF isn’t going to play that game.

I stepped away the past few days because the writing has been on the wall and I didn't want to get lumped into the doom and gloomers but at some point the trend patterns became too much for me. Not that I think we won't end up OK but we are losing way too many battles for me to care to follow each step of the way. I will check in down the road to see how it shakes out but we clearly aren't playing the same money game at the moment.

I agree. There is still money to be made with NIL at UF for some good quality players. It’s just not stupid money up front

Will be interesting to see what the correlation is to kids wanting a transfer the first year or two with a school and the size of their NIL deal.

Trying my first multi quote - hope it works. Lol

    My thoughts on this topic…

You have various groups of schools who are out in front in regards to NIL.

You have the Bama, Clemson, Georgia, etc schools. They all had great success recruiting before NIL but not because they win big but because they have amazing money men/organized bag men/cheating down to a science. If you’ve read any of the Interviews / perspectives / stories about SEC bag men, they state that these schools (and others) have thousands of boosters who give say $10,000/year (some gave tons more) cash to guys who funnel the money and deals to players, families, etc. with this system already in place when NIL came around, instead of giving all of their $10,000 to their organized bag men, they now can give it to a group to handle the spreading of money via NIl. There was no need to start a grass roots Gator Collective type of org and ask for money…the money was already being collected every year for under the table deals. Now that money is still collected but more above the table so nothing changes for these schools. They still have money and can use it for NIL.

The second group of schools doing well are those who have a huge donor (Miami with Ruiz, Tennessee with Haslem, both Texas schools with oil money) who can get tons of money in moments so right up front they have the cash needed for NIL. Schools in this group may need to violate the rules of NIL more than the schools in the first group since they hadn’t previously bought their way to success (like Bama and Georgia)- they may need to induce players in violation of ncaa rules. This is happening all over the place. So, prior program success is not necessary to recruit well…giving cash early and often makes up for it.

Florida is not in either of these two groups. Busy raising cash and playing by the rules is a big hinderance to success in the era of NIL.

I only travel for the big games anyway. It’s going to cost me a couple thousand just to be in Gainesville for the weekend, I might as well see a good game and tack on another thousand while I’m there. I don’t think the Sports department makes a lot of money off $35 tickets, especially with so many empty seats. Bama on the other hand was packed and expensive

Yeah he hasn't been bad, but in comparison to the guys I quoted he's not even close. Is the PAC 12 a big conference? Haha

I’d add the multiple buyouts over the last decade might add some reluctance for some.

Makes sense if you're traveling a long way to want to go only to the big games. As far as not making much money on the other games, remember, too, that there are huge lines at all the over-priced concession stands in the stadium for the entire game. That's only partly because of the inefficiency of those vendors; the other reason is that they sell a massive quantity of food and drinks. More money is made at bigger games, but, don't fool yourself, they still bring in plenty of bank at the smaller games, too. Parking and Gator gear also costs the same per person for any game.

But add $100 a ticket to 90,000 tickets and what ya got? Do that three more times a year

A new coach (if you count Meyer) on an average of every 2.4 years ..using 5 coaches and 12 years..
