if you pay him $2 mill a year and he flounders, the hope is that you have amassed more talent just off the strength of having a highly rated QB which is why missing on them sucks. You’re not attracting top talent on offense at the other positions, especially in the SEC, unless you have a coveted QB. Without Rashada, the odds of getting Mizell, Tyler Williams, hell Eugene Wilson, Baxter, etc is damn near impossible in this day and age.

This is a great what if. Why would he have a successful career while we “continue to flounder “? Remember, Miami is around 40th in the nation in recruiting right now.

If he is a top-five Heisman candidate in two years of course we should’ve paid the 5 million. Hindsight is 2020

Would we have felt the same when recruiting Frank's? Sablehaus? Jones? Driskel? Brantley?

Hindsight is 20/20. Sure we'll be salty if he ends up that good but no one knows what's gonna happen. So we overpay in some bidding war and then what happens with Richardson? Do we go back and make a new deal if Rashadas was worth more than his?We also don't know how many of these kids are going to crash and burn with all this money, celebrity and youth at unprecedented levels. I'm willing to bet we are going to see more off field problems than usual.

I'll say this. Losing on Rashada hurts because of perception as much as anything. It effects momentum and gives rival programs recruiting "victories" over us but I have to assume a meticulous CEO like Napier is totally aware and working on a solution. I'm losing interest in college sports in general but I'm curious to see how this all plays out. Honestly I lost most of my interst the last 10 years seeing this stuff going on unchecked at Bama, Georgia OSU etc already anyway.

The only certainty is we are yet to recruit a national champion quarterback in this class. You have to take tgat leap sonetime or you have no chance. Life is full of failures. Do we stand there scared to jump?

They have a five star qb and momentum. Do they get five more players because of him that they wouldn’t have gotten? Perhaps.

You take calculated risks. Again, how many misses have we had in the past? This is more about a recruiting battle than it is about a player in my opinion. I've agreed with you on most things over the years here about how other programs have been doing it. Until it comes out for certain that we are hamstrung by the administration I'm going to trust Napiers methods even if things look rocky right now.

I m not down on napi at all but qb is tge one position you can’t suck at. There’s only going to be a small group of those guys every year and I’d guess they will all be heavily overpaid. Maybe it’s not a bad strategy to build the lines and other positions well and hope for another Trask to come along.

What if the price is $2.5M per year, what if you then have a current QB who demands more based on that contract, what if those WR you want to attract no longer can be afforded because your budget is blown, what if you simply don't think the kid is remotely worth that price, what if you feel there are better ROI options?
    LOTS of moving parts

But again, without knowing Richardsons deal what happens if they pay rashada his ridiculous asking price? I know nothing of real value but what if Napier trusts what he has with brown and Miller behind Richardson? Why create a new divide with what you already have? Where would it end? Man I hope I can sit back in the next few years and watch some implosions on these reckless spenders. Georgia and Bama have been able to manage it prior to NIL but I have no doubt they paid out the nose to keep their backs on roster even through a senior season a few years back.

That’s means you don’t have enough money to run a top notch program. If you can’t pay AR and Rashad, you’re just not going to compete with the teams that can.

No accountability. I would bet at least half of what is printed for those boongoggles is less than well spent and mostly wasted.

LAX was full of holes when 911 occurred and they spent a lot of money to shore up its security. Same for so many airports I imagine. I remember a flight out of Dallas in the 80s, we stopped to pick up passengers, they gave us 15 minutes to walk around in the terminal, I was late back, they stopped the plane, walked me onto the tarmac, opened the rear entrance of the jet and let me climb in. That would never ever happen now.

AR should be getting that type of money if that’s the going rate. Not AR in particular, but if top qbs don’t get their market value, they will hit the portal to get it.
If Napier believes in a qb on roster to be the man for the next few years, it would be a waste to spend big money on a qb. Give tgat cash to Cormani and others tgat we really need. Losing a couple players looks really bad but may be a calculated risk with another plan tgat suits our complete roster. I’m still in wait and see mode but somebody better get those bags because we need some talent.

That is absolutely a concern. I think UF will be competitive in that regard, but cannot be crazy ala UT, TAMU, etc. Have to be smart with the $

No, assuming you sign a potentially good qb every class like a top program does. There will be misses but you can’t just not sign top qbs in each class and expect to go to the playoffs. Signing other teams castoffs like Burrow probably isn’t the surest way to do it either.

Any QB UF signs is potentially good.

I know I've said it before, but the portal for QB has been and will likely continue to be ridiculously loaded. They are everywhere. Having a recruited guy as your starter will probably be the minority next season.
