I have no idea. I'm sure most, if not all have things set up for their players. Though I wouldn't be shocked if USC and A&M are two who go full in with recruits and leave the current players to fend for themselves.

My point was more that it was smart of Napier to ensure that the current players got love before he went out and dropped any bag on a HS recruit.

Dropping tons of dough on unproven and often troubled high school kids is just more capitalism run amok.

Silly season is now poopy season. Enjoy the poop show but be prepared to get covered in it.

My first Gator game was 1964 (Ray Graves). I was in high school at a small country school outside Plant City (Pinecrest). I was on a FFA team that was competing in a state contest… that contest was at UF, and we were able to go to the game.
Honestly I don’t remember the opponent, but I was hooked from that moment on.
I went to a game every year after that on a chartered train from Tampa to Gainesville. It was a wonderful time… even with the crew of bar patrons that my sister got the tickets through (she ran the bar).
The game we went to in 1966 was the UF/Auburn game that gave Steve Spurrier the Heisman Trophy when he kicked the winning field goal. (several of the guys I went with didn’t make it long enough to see the kick)
I didn’t make 1968-1971 because Uncle came calling, but I have not missed a season since 1972.
You are correct, times have changed, but I still love the gators, and I count myself blessed to have the lifetime of memories Gator football has given me.
By the way we won that FFA contest in 1965.

Sweetwater for one. I grew up in Miami, there are plenty of crappy areas all over the county.

In my experience , the general casual fan couldn't tell you a name of a HS recruit. You'd be lucky for most of them if they knew the current coaches and the main star or 2 on the team. You know the fan that wears the team tshirt around the house and was born into that teams fandom bc of family, Then from there you have the ones that watch the games on Saturdays because it's the socially accepted thing to do in the south on Saturdays, and they may know a bit more about the team and a few more players that they see or hear while watching. Then there are some that won't miss a game, love football, pretends to be the coach from the couch yelling out plays that should have been run but still doesn't know a lick about Amy recruiting classes, a 247top100 or anything about the recruiting rankings or visit any sports message boards and such because they don't care....... and then there is us. We are the ones that both follow closely and give a shit when big names start committing elsewhere. The majority of the general fan base only notices when things are bad or good by the W/L records.

Recruiting isn't for the faint of heart and many rather not even try to follow.

I don't know why people actually thought we would keep pace with both Bama and UGA, the last 2 national champions , both from our conference and both are the teams I keep seeing people compare us to. Not sure that's a fair comparison for a coach who has yet to coach a P5 game. I know we say winning games won't help , and thats true to a point. But if you win the right games it can. If CBN comes out has a good season and wins a game or two he isn't supposed to then that will help. Let's say he is able to beat Utah and pull an upset over UGA (talent gap be damned) people will take notice.

Show me where I'm wrong. Take like one look at literally every other UF message board and on twitter.

If you don't think Rashada going to Miami would cause a Chernobyl level meltdown, IDK what to tell you.

Dude - have you considered that this is still freaking June and there’s 7 months and at least 11 games to play before these kids actually commit in writing?

Every game is going to be an opportunity to impress these high school kids and you can count on a lot changing between September and February.

Maybe, but I can assure you I was there, if I can find any of the drunks I was with… alive preferably… I’ll get a sworn affidavit, not that anyone would believe a alcoholic.
