I think we will be fine. There’s a lot of dominoes left to fall. They may fall a bit slower this year as nil has created actual contracts that take legal negotiation. That’s much different than under the table deals.

it is earlier but if im being honest….I don't care about what we do defensively when it comes to recruiting, it's OFFENSIVELY that worries me (I said this during Mullen's tenure and i'm still saying that now). Lack of elite recruiting offensively killed Mullen (recruiting overall for that matter) and it can bury Napier if he doesn't figure it out...FAST.

 

If we are getting outbid, Napier can’t do anything about it.recruiting prowess counts but cash will win most battles . Recruiting rankings will be almost exactly in line with payrolls. Napier is doing all he can do and I still believe he will get somewhere around 10. Not nailing down a qb because they are too expensive I think is a mistake. They will always cost tge most and you can’t win without them.

 

QB is definitely going to be at a dollar premium, but it's possible (like any good GM) Nape has decided that JR has a ceiling to his value and it's wiser not to overpay for him. Save the $$ and take a bigger swing at a better prospect next year.

 

Quite possible. But is there anyway to have already determined a concrete value? Everything better be fluid imo.

 

I'd imagine with the rigorous eval scheme Napier uses, assigning value would be a logical extension based on partially the market fluidity. JR seems like a good prospect, but it's not like he was the #1 target at the outset.

Napier is going to have to think in 2-3 year "salary cap" cycles and make some tough fiscal choices if UF isn't going to throw seemingly unlimited stacks around like some of the other programs.

 

We may well have to look good on the field in order to have the credibility we need to get these kids signed up. We’ve basically sucked since these kids were 6 years old

Yep. All $$ being roughly equal, Napier as unknown quantity is definitely working against him at this point. Hopefully they'll show enough this season to overcome that angle.

 

Yes, the total package is needed. Can’t cut corners anywhere to compete at the top level. Every single detail 100%
