I landed in Miami from the Stix at age 20 for a couple of year before UF and it was the most seductive and exciting place in the world. A free trip when you're 18 shouldn't be turned down. Especially on a pedestal.

They will be signing a ton of players I'll predict. Probably will put Dabo in his place and own fsu.

 

Why don't you step in here? Come to the plate and make it happen, cut a deal for both guys...you do understand that NIL deals are paid for by the fans right? Kinda seems odd you would complain about letting these visits to UM possibly happen when you could stop it by simply writing a check.

Why is it every time someone has criticism someone pulls the old "Why don't you do something card?"

What are YOU doing to contribute? Are you a member of the Gator Collective? Are you a booster? If not then do you even have a leg to stand on?

All I keep hearing are excuses.

 

Off topic but the idea that fans can contribute to a holding account that pays player is beyond me. Where is the name, image, likeness... or when is that part of it going to be implemented by all the schools? WTH..

 

It’s way easier to just stomp your feet and scream this is unacceptable!

 

I am a 30 plus year booster, I am a collective member.......AND most importantly I do not whine about kids taking visits or our staff magically preventing kids from being recruited. The reality actually seems to be that those who contribute seem to understand the big picture and exhibit reasonable expectations, while others stomp their feet and hold their breath when things don't happen immediately.
I'm all for discussion, and criticism when and where it is warranted. Your posts regarding an uncommitted kid taking visits in an attempt to drive up his NIL value...and that somehow being the fault of our staff would seem to indicate more about your recruiting acumen than it does our staff.

We're sitting in June with only 6 commits while schools around us are starting to get commitments left and right. We desperately NEED a blue chip QB and cannot afford to lose him to a rival school with Cuban Epstein as a booster. All we keep hearing is how things are different and blah blah yet the results speak for themselves. How did this staff let that AJ Harris kid troll Corey Raymond like that?

And if the rumors are true that the administration is causing problems for UF boosters not being allowed to help then why don't you guys step in and put them in their place?

My posts are insanely mild compared to TOS and Twitter. Gator fans want results. I want to win and am I tired of the constant "waiting" excuse. And don't say "once we start winning" or "just wait a few months" because those were the same excuses we all gave Mullen and McElwain.

 

That makes sense, except, he's not paying anyone anything except a scholarship. The rest comes to the players via NIL advertising contracts, which Napier can't have anything to do with. I think all he can do is maybe to encourage Gators to contribute to the collective and guard programs, right?

 

To spend or not to spend

That is the question

 

Everyone needs to chill and see where this class lands come signing day, we have a lot of great players rolling through and considering the Gators right now.

However, I will say that when all is said and done, where this class lands this year is about as good as it's gonna get for Napier and UF. If Jimbo can blow Bama and UGA out of the top spot last year after having a so-so season, and if UF is really getting all this $$ collective money, etc.,. lined up then it's simply a matter of is UF willing to do what it take$ to sign the top kids? The last couple of commitments don't really lead me to think we do, but we'll see.

 

And, that is a great point. Aside from the few players at IMG that are actually from Florida, there is no reason to consider anyone coming from IMG any sort of local product that is expected to go to Florida. For the most part, they didn't grow up watching and rooting for the Gators, nor did their parents or larger family. Yes, of course, we absolutely need to try to get some of these guys, but, when we miss, it's seldom a story about UF losing one of their own to some foreign power. It's a player from somewhere else in the country who is already at the Single-A stop for the NFL's minor league system who often-times has little or no connection to this state.

 

Yet something tells me they have influence and what is going on and how things are going to be run. They don’t however have control of how much money they have to work with.

For whatever reason, we play by the rules and stay away from anything that can be assumed as being dirty.

 

I agree he doesn't directly pay them, but I am willing to bet he had a say in who gets paid.

 

I guess until we know that for sure one way or the other, we're all just barking up a tree.
