He knows who he is. He doesn't think TP is relevant. He must not have been to a Gator game the last few seasons. I do agree that his music skews caucasian. Don't know if that's an issue or not.

Tom Petty and country were not what immediately comes to mind when thinking of him as an artist. He always pushed the envelope and was trying new things from a musicality perspective and even if his old MTV videos

 

What a Maroon.

 

I understand why anyone under 35 would only vaguely know Tom Petty, and not understand why we play his music. But it’s such a cool moment every time I hear it. It has to be one of the better in-game experiences.

 

I miss that guy!

 

Tom Pettys music and this song in particular have proven to be transgenerational. All of my kids hace it in thier play lists. There is a reason 90K fans stand up and sing it in the swamp. Because the overwhelming majority of fans have adopted it and approve.

It's not all about you.

I hope this doesn’t turn into political, but the color of your skin should not matter. I never even thought about race/color when I listen to Petty's songs.

 

I feel D. Black is gonna reintroduce himself this year so to speak. The kid is highly talented, been a stud everywhere he has played and is probably one of the most loyal recruits I've ever seen. Can't remember too many kids committing, not qualifying, going juco for 2 seasons and still be a Gator like he said from the start. I look for him to be an impact player this year.
