Was that the year that they called all the timeouts right before half , went 4 and out, then punted to Tennessee and they hit the Hail Mary as time expired to head into half?

First game I watched UF lose in person, I had a hell of a run through the 90s as a kid. Unfortunately, I came back the next week and watched them lose to Ole Miss as well.

It felt like spurrier was gone, and we were heading off a cliff.
But at least Zook had that $.99 2” notepad in his chest pocket where he would take notes on how to coach an elite college football team. And he would take notes everytime we went 3 and out or throw an int. He took lots of notes.

I don’t know what was worse, Zook’s notes or Mcelwains “ain’t this great”s

My first loss in this person was I think to auburn in 97 or 98 at the swamp. I think we went to OT and they kicked a FG. I saw friends of mine in the stands stunned and crying. I wish we all still had that reaction to losing.

Mcelwain’s “ain’t this great” was worse to me, mainly because I disliked him. Zook I liked, he was just in way over his head. Really just felt sorry for him truthfully.

I was just so frustrated coming off Spurrier’s Midas touch run and then watching some guy learn on the fly and visibly taking notes on a dollar store notepad. I blame more Foley for that, that truly was THE best job in college football, and he picked the equivalent of his neighbor’s kid nephew for the job.

I recall Saban doing a dab for 5 star linebacker Mack Wilson. For Saban, that’s an equivalent of a Harlem Shake

And that’s why CBN has other staff to do the dancing and be the fun side of the college experience. I’m sure every recruit and player only sees the business side of Nape on visits and at practice. No flip flopping roles for our ball coach.

That was the game when the “noise in the system” got louder.

Been going to see the Gators play football since the late '70's or 1980, forgot... was along time ago. And after all those years of seeing the Gators play in The Swamp I never once saw the Gators lose, at home. But I was there for that last time we tied a team, Georgia Tech when Chris Collinsworth was playing still in The Swamp.

My favorite year/season what 1996... I saw all of our home games that year.

I have some cool game stories from the past... I would not trade them for a million dollars.
