TLDR: Tuon is quite possibly a future ALL SEC Defensive First Teamer.

Tuon posted a pretty impressive stat line yesterday" 8 points, 3 Boards, 3 Blocks and a steal in 22 minutes.

Gatkek has averaged 2.4 STOCKS (steals and blocks) in just 14 minutes a game over the last 5 games. Adjusting this to the 28 minutes a game he could see in a couple years-that's 4.8 combined steals and blocks a game. Those are ELITE defensive metrics.

Eligibility wise he is just a Freshman as the NJCAA has a Covid year waiver as well.

Tuon's got the tools to be a future ALL SEC Defensive Teamer, now all he needs to do is add the pounds. Herb Jones was last years Defensive Player of the Year at 6'7 206 lbs.

Surprising toughness for his weight. Skinny dude, but shows some athleticism

You might be going a little overboard. It’s likely that his butt will be on the bench next year.

    Don't think next year mentioned.

"the 28 minutes a game he COULD see in a couple of years..and..He's got the tools to be a future ALL SEC Defensive Teamer"

Nope. Nothing there about next year. Rotation player/designated eater

He's played in every game we've had this year. I don't think it is surprising his minutes would increase when CC was injured and then increased more when Jitoboh got hurt.

Wouldn't be surprised if he's still seeing minutes when Castleton gets back.

Regardless of whether he is or isn't-he's shown the ability to be disruptive on defense. With an offseason to work out, and more importantly eat everything that Jitoboh used to eat--he'll continue to get used to the speed of the game.

Maybe he's my Ques Glover, but has the career Glover should have been allowed to have.

With Jitoboh out, I do think that hat check will get minutes when Castleton comes back. There’s not much of a choice.

Felder could easily log 25 minutes. Reeves could always use more minutes as well.

    Maybe Tuon's earned them.

I think he could be a very good player as well. Instincts are there and he affects a lot of shot attempts, something stats don’t account for.

If you see him play in person, up close, he has a nice shot, with a shooters touch with backspin. Maybe, they should allow him to shoot it more within 15 ft. Who knows, he might even be able to hit threes with better accuracy than some others on the team. He has the attitude to do whatever coach tells him, so he plays great defense. With his increased minutes, maybe we will get a glimpse of his shooting other than ft’s.

"Hat Check" ?? come on Tampa, the kid is busting his tale and doing a pretty good job with his minutes.

I don't think many on the board thought he would even see the court. Add some muscle, more PT, he already has surprised and may just surprise some more!

One thing for sure, I'm glad we have him right now.

Sounds like you need to work on your sense of humor. I think that the kid is playing well. I am not criticizing him one bit.

Tuon is a player in a runners body. He is more than an annoyance on D now and has that instinct that's hard teach and develop. He's working hard in the weight room and his shooting % has gone up. I don't see a huge down side going forward because of how he looks but I've seen players with his physique do quite well.

Reminds me a bit of Wil Yeguete as a frosh, with a little more offensive touch. Certainly raw, but could absolutely be a contributor down the road with some coaching and frequent trips to the athlete's buffet

Turned out to be a good pickup for us
JJ and him plus the freshmen coming in could be good inside.
If we keep our players we could be a dang good team. Hate JJ is losing this playing time. But his eyesight is way more important then ever playing again
