that implies they’ve found other incriminating evidence yielding new charges? Yeah he’ll flip like a flounder…
CNN reporting that DA is asking about $150K hush money payment to Playboy model he screwed. She was a total smoke show. Manhattan District Attorney is asking about hush money paid to former Playboy model Karen McDougal | CNN Politics
Who Hoo! Rattle his cage. Sets him up nicely for the other looming more serious indictments. With any luck he’ll stroke right the off.
Looks like Jack Smith is focusing on the obstruction angle in the MAL documents case which would distinguish this case from Biden’s and Pence’s documents case https://www.washingtonpost.com/ In the classified documents case, federal investigators have gathered new and significant evidence that after the subpoena was delivered, Trump looked through the contents of some of the boxes of documents in his home, apparently out of a desire to keep certain things in his possession, the people familiar with the investigation said. Investigators now suspect, based on witness statements, security camera footage, and other documentary evidence, that boxes including classified material were moved from a Mar-a-Lago storage area after the subpoena was served, and that Trump personally examined at least some of those boxes, these people said. While Trump’s team returned some documents with classified markings in response to the subpoena, a later FBI search found more than 100 additional classified items that had not been turned over.
I can see Trump doing his own version of Nixon's famous "Checkers" speech, denying that he got anything of value while in office except for his love letters from Kim Jong-un and vowing to keep those letters no matter what. Go to 18:15
Mr. Smith piling up the evidence of obstruction. DT personally sorted through boxes of documents and removed some that he wanted to keep for himself “Feels obstruction-y”: Experts say it may be “game over” after Trump aide gives DOJ key evidence (msn.com) Justice Department and FBI investigators obtained "particularly helpful" emails and texts from Molly Michael, a former Trump White House aide who followed him to Mar-a-Lago before leaving the job last year, according to the report. The messages "provided investigators with a detailed understanding of the day-to-day activity at Mar-a-Lago at critical moments," according to the Post, and have used the messages to help understand Trump's actions last year. Investigators are particularly interested in whether Trump may have obstructed government efforts to collect and return all sensitive materials that he took home to Mar-a-Lago, according to the report. Investigators have spent much of their time looking at what happened after Trump's advisers received a subpoena in May demanding the return of all classified documents. Investigators have found evidence that Trump "looked through the contents of some of the boxes of documents in his home, apparently out of a desire to keep certain things in his possession," sources familiar with the investigation told the Post. The team now suspects that Trump "personally examined" at least some of the boxes moved from a Mar-a-Lago storage area after the subpoena was served, based on witness statements, security footage and documentary evidence, the sources said. Though Trump's team handed over some documents, the FBI later discovered more than 100 additional classified items during an August search of Mar-a-Lago. Court documents seeking the warrant to search Mar-a-Lago show that agents believed that "evidence of obstruction will be found at the premises." The warrant application said the FBI was seeking evidence of violations of laws that make it a crime to conceal, alter, destroy or mutilate a document "with the intent to impede, obstruct, or influence the investigation or proper administration of any matter within the jurisdiction of any department or agency."
Trump attorney caught flat-footed when grilled on new Mar-a-Lago revelations (msn.com) Late Sunday, the Washington Post reported the Department of Justice has evidence that the former president went through the boxes of documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate -- and that some of the files were labeled as confidential -- with security camera footage backing up the new accusations. During her appearance on CNN, host Lemon tried to get Habba to address the new accusations and she parried his questions. "I want to turn now to the DOJ case in the classified documents at trump. Mar-a-Lago resort," the CNN host prompted. "This is, according to the Washington Post: the Washington Post is saying that federal investigators have gathered new and significant evidence that after the subpoena was delivered, that Trump looked through the content of some of the boxes of documents in his home, apparently out of a desire to keep certain things in his possession."
Said it before. The indictment is the best thing to happen to Trump in his run for the Republican presidential nomination. The numbers speak for themselves and Trump's gains seem to be at the expense of Meatball Ron DeSanctimonious.
I cannot see the numbers changing all that much. Roughly 35% of self-identified Republicans worship Trump as if he were the leader of a cult. Although it's not rational to me Trump has managed to convince them that persecution (as evidenced by prosecution) of him is an attack on them. I don't see that mindset changing. Also keep in mind that a majority of Republicans are also election deniers and the prosecution of Trump reinforces their belief that the same deep state that stole the election from him is behind his prosecution.
Trump net worth skyrocketing downward! The latest on the heels on Truths socials impending collapse. Trump's net worth takes a massive hit: Forbes Note i think the below is wrong. To the extent another social media platform can be used to value TS. Musk in creating the new holding company that owns Twitter in a share purchase valuation pegged the market cap at $24B. Regardless his hit is $550M at best and his net worth is down from $5.2B last fall to $2.5B now, mostly ill liquid. I smell bankruptcy (again)! “Noting the failure of Truth Social to achieve its lofty goals, the report adds, "The fundamental problem is that barely anyone uses Truth Social. Before it launched, an investor presentation suggested the app would attract 81 million users by 2026. Now, over a year after going live, it has only an estimated 5 million. Given that Trump owns roughly 85% of the business and Twitter is worth an estimated $42 per user, the former president’s stake probably adds up to about $180 million today."”
Updated polls on the Republican presidential nomination. Absent something totally unexpected the Orange One has a near lock on the nomination. Said it before when the candidate who represents the most significant opposition to Trump repeats the Donald's narrative on his indictment almost verbatim, there is little doubt that Trump has little actual opposition. If Meatball Ron DeSanctimonious wants to present himself as an alternative to Trump he's will need to stand up to Trump, a risky but necessary tactic that he obviously lacks the balls to even try.
Yeah, if he intends on running he will have to go toe to toe with trump at some point but he may be waiting and hoping that the justice system eliminates trump and clears the path for him.
I think Tiny D might be banking on these indictments actually landing Trump in jail. In which case he would have said all the right things to the deplorables and would be the heir apparent. If Trump isn't taken out by the law I think Tiny D waits until 2028.
I think DeSantis has no shot ever at President. The deep state does not care if Trump wins or loses these cases. The process is the punishment.
The problem with that strategy is that the justice system will never actually eliminate Trump as a candidate. Under the Constitution there is no prohibition against a candidate charged with a crime from running for the presidency. In fact, there is no prohibition against a convicted felon from running. While state Republican parties could prohibit a convicted Donald Trump from running in their primaries that's never going to happen. As far Republican primary voters are concerned the majority have bought into election denial and the mythical deep state. Even if Trump is convicted of one or more crimes to them it will just more evidence of the deep state and Democratic politicians who denied Trump of the presidency persecuting poor Donald. As recent polls have indicated they will rally around their persecuted Dear Leader. Evidence of Trump's influence within the party was demonstrated by the results of Republican primaries last year especially in swing states where the election will be decided. With the exception of Georgia where Brian Kemp and Brad Raffensperger both beat candidates endorsed by Trump, virtually every election denier endorsed by Trump won their primary elections although almost of them lost in the general election. Little has changed with Trump still being the dominant figure in the Republican Party thanks to a cult-like following within the party. While I think it was somewhat of an outlier one poll even had Trump beating DeSantis in Florida.
