I'm a little disappointed he couldn't work a "like such as" into his monologue. https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...train-thought-it-derails-child-care-question/ Trump was asked about his position on making child care affordable. His response: “Well, I would do that, and we’re sitting down — you know, I was, uh, somebody, we had Sen. Marco Rubio [(R-Fla.)] and my daughter, Ivanka, was so, uh, impactful on that issue. It’s a very important issue. But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I’m talking about, that — because child care is child care. It’s, couldn’t — you know, it’s something, you have to have it. In this country, you have to have it. But when you talk about those numbers compared to the kind of numbers that I’m talking about by taxing foreign nations at levels that they’re not used to but they’ll get used to it very quickly. And it’s not going to stop them from doing business with us, but they’ll have a very substantial tax when they send product into our country. Those numbers are so much bigger than any numbers that we’re talking about, including child care, that it’s gonna take care. We’re gonna have — I, I look forward to having no deficits within a fairly short period of time. Coupled with, uh, the reductions that I told you about on waste and fraud and all of the other things that are going on in our country — because I have to say with child care, I want to stay with child care, but those numbers are small relative to the kind of economic numbers that I’m talking about, including growth. But growth also headed up by what the plan is that I just, uh, that I just told you about. We’re gonna be taking in trillions of dollars, and as much as child care is talked about as being expensive, it’s, relatively speaking, not very expensive compared to the kind of numbers we’ll be taking in. We’re going to make this into an incredible country that can afford to take care of its people and then we’ll worry about the rest of the world. Let’s help other people. But we’re gonna take care of our country first. This is about America first. It’s about: Make America great again. We have to do it, because right now we’re a failing nation. So we’ll take care of it. Thank you. Very good question.”
Former Vice President Dick Cheney says he will vote for Kamala Harris Former Vice President Dick Cheney says he will vote for Kamala Harris
Wow what a RINO. As Stormy Daniels is fond of saying: i like Dick. From the article: He can never be trusted with power again,” the statement said. “As citizens, we each have a duty to put country above partisanship to defend our Constitution. That is why I will be casting my vote for Vice President Kamala Harris.” Asked for comment, Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung said, “Who is Liz Cheney?”
Can't believe I actually read all of that. Might be the most amount of words I've ever read without learning something.
Could we please have anyone knowledgeable opine on why this happened and what it means in a practical sense? I find it objectionable, personally, but I'd like to hear from others. TIA! https://www.cnn.com/2024/09/06/politics/judge-delays-trumps-sentencing/index.html Judge delays Trump’s sentencing until after the election
So you think a shutdown economy and double-digit employment are worth $1.87 a gallon gas. Note the price per gas and the unemployment rate in April 2020.
To have $1.87 gas would be evidence of a DEFLATIONARY economy. Deflation results in: A cutback in production, decreased demand, lower wages, higher unemployment and increased interest rates. It reverses a growing economy. But hey, you do you.
Maybe, maybe not. Yes, deflation is a very bad sign for your economy, but only if spread across markets. If a single commodity drops it could be for myriad reasons.
But gas is a really important commodity. If gas dropped to $1.87 per gallon in the next year or so it would likely be due to a deep recession (like the short one we had in 2020 from covid). But in the more distant future hopefully gas would drop that low due to decreased demand due to everyone driving EVs.
trump plans to prosecute political donors and lawyers and other unscrupulous people he suspects of election cheating if he wins. From his truth post: CEASE & DESIST: I, together with many Attorneys and Legal Scholars, am watching the Sanctity of the 2024 Presidential Election very closely because I know, better than most, the rampant Cheating and Skullduggery that has taken place by the Democrats in the 2020 Presidential Election. It was a Disgrace to our Nation! Therefore, the 2024 Election, where Votes have just started being cast, will be under the closest professional scrutiny and, WHEN I WIN, those people that CHEATED will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law, which will include long term prison sentences so that this Depravity of Justice does not happen again. We cannot let our Country further devolve into a Third World Nation, AND WE WON’T! Please beware that this legal exposure extends to Lawyers, Political Operatives, Donors, Illegal Voters, & Corrupt Election Officials. Those involved in unscrupulous behavior will be sought out, caught, and prosecuted at levels, unfortunately, never seen before in our Country.
Now this is a statement that should be investigated as voter interference. Sounds so much like the Venezuela election.
Kamala with a nasty ad ... rumor has it she has bought time on Fox News during the debate. Hide the ketchup!!!!
Trump declares himself unfit to be president. To be specific, he said that people in their 80's should not be signing important documents. Apparently, he has forgotten that he is 78, and would be in his 80's the second half of his presidency, should he be re-elected. And, of course, presidents sign important documents all the time. So don't trust Harris--trust Trump when he says he is unfit for office. If he doesn't know his own age, or doesn't know how long a presidential term is, it doesn't matter. He is unfit for office, in his own words. Trump, 78, Accidentally Skewers Himself in Wild Rant on 80-Year-Olds
