I'll be honest - it doesn't make sense to me either. I understand that the law is what it is, but that doesn't mean it makes sense all the time!

 

Oh I agree, it doesn’t matter if they had sex or not or even if she felt some kind of “power” that made her do it.

By the way, I can’t find where she actually told her story in 2011. She wanted to but didn’t because she was threatened with a law suit and a someone in a parking garage scared her.

 

This is why I don’t come here very often any more. Having a civilized discussion is completely out the window.

I have more than once acknowledged what the law says about burglary. I have more than once said I disagree with it and that it leaves too much power in the hands of prosecutors to over charge.

If you can’t accept the fact I have an opinion on that which differs from you, just acknowledge that so we can move on to something more productive

Interesting invocation of Trump's order to the Proud Boys. What are they standing by for? Moral support? Helping Trump get around his gag order? Shutting down the trial?

 

Not sure if anybody knows but I have been wondering given the live tweeting about the trial and access. My understanding is that there are spillover rooms and not sure what the capacity is there. But who gets to be in the actual courtroom and who decides who gets a "ticket"? The Judge? The Clerk? Is the NYT essentially guaranteed a seat, for example? Does the criminal defendant get a certain number of seats for family/friends/supporters? Are there seats which are subject to a random lottery of those interested? Would residents of that County get priority?

 

When do the arm bands come out?

Star witness Cohen caught under oath lying about what he testified to 2 days ago.

Still think the opposite of jury nullification is going to happen, it's New York and Biden Lawfare, but Anderson Cooper is funny having his epiphany on a live CNN broadcast.

 

Having not read your links, but taking your word on what should be the rational takeaway from them.......this sounds like simply accurate reporting. It sounds free from any bias AC may be assumed to have.

I just listened. Apparently, Blanche did a great job of showing Cohen was untrustworthy. Like many of us said, the State had a difficult case because it rested, in part, on the jury believing Cohen, in part, and he’s an awful witness.

The State did an excellent job of building its case to show that Cohen was just a cog. But they still need to believe him.

You may be right — Blanche might’ve won the case today.

 

I can almost picture them: a red arm band with gold trim. A white circle in the middle with a black T in it. An American flag on one side, a cross on the other, and perhaps an AR-15 under the T.

 

Reportedly, both the prosecution and the defense determined that it was too risky to call Allen Weisselberg, who's currently living his best life at Riker's Island. Not sure whether that option is still on the table. I almost wonder if Trump purposefully surrounds himself with habitual liars because he knows they won't be taken seriously if they ever turn on him.

 

Cohen is a known liar. He's a convicted felon because of it. Always going to be a problem for the prosecution, and why Cohen wasn't the lead witness.

The question is why did Cohen lie? Was it to cover for Trump, who knew what was going on at all times? Or to cover for Trump to protect him and his family? That's what the jury will need to determine.
