So the direct answer you were looking for is .... "you have no other facts that dispute these estimates but you don't like them."
I'd love to get accurate, future financial numbers. I'd use that info to get rich. But all we can do is estimate future events. What aren't estimates are the trillions made by the ag and construction businesses in the US. And the fact both verticals rely on immigrants. Does Trump even have a concept if a plan to replace said labor?
Azcat we disagree on the border and have for a long long time. I am hopeful we see story after story of people being put on a plane or a bus and sent packing. As far as people who own businesses that hire ILLEGALS to work for them, they too are breaking the law, so I have little sympathy for them.
The plan is to say, "Who knew that harvesting food and constructing houses could be so complicated?" Same line he always uses when he sticks his nose where it doesn't belong and tries to fix something complicated that actually works pretty well.
An archaeologist studying migration into the U.S. from the south interviewed human smugglers in Mexico and was surprised to learn that they love Donald Trump. They know that he will not be able to stop them, but they also love the way he talks tough about immigration. It helps drive up their prices. https://edition.cnn.com/2025/01/04/us/smugglers-mexico-jason-de-leon-cec/index.html Yes, you heard that correctly. Trump is a human smuggler's best friend. But who benefits from smuggling, besides the smuggler? It turns out we all do. (Hard-core Trump fans may want to skip this next paragraph, as it contains truths contrary to their limited worldview.)
LOL, why isn't the border secure in the first place? TF is wrong with our government? Richest country in the world, dozens of our military bases all over the world inside other countries, but can't secure our own border. How is that possible? Oh, snap. I know how it's possible. The Democrat party has been doing everything they can for years to destabilize our border.
Now you want to buy PLANE TICKETS to send migrants back home? Let's see, half a million people enter the U.S. illegally every year. Flights from San Diego to Mexico City are going for $550. Total cost $275 million/yr. Cost to American consumers in paying for more expensive food and home repair? Billions. Look of horror on republicans' faces when they see their first re-roofing estimate? Priceless.
I read this earlier- great article, very interesting person. The problem, of course, is that the voters of the felon have zero concept of the USA's need for immigrant labor, documented or not. Present them with the numerical, economic aspects and challenges of the issue and they either; 1) Scurry away without a word 2) Dispute the figures, with no plausible alternatives 3 Scream "FAKE NEWS" It's (been) comical (for years). At least there may be some new comedy to look forward to : I'm starting to wonder if this Trump clown may end up explaining that all these people don't need to be deported after all. Just registered.
We get it. You don't care who gets hurt, including families, businesses that rely on immigrant labor, towns that rely on those businesses, consumers who end up paying more because of lower supply, and everyone who suffers due to the recession caused by trillions of jobs going unfilled. Nope, all you care about is serving the law.
I don’t think it is really surprising. Along with the economy, it was his biggest talking point of the election. And I think to attack the illegal immigration threat, the focus needs to be stopping the cartels who make billions—more than they do on drugs. Trump, at least through rhetoric, stated he will take on the cartels. How he goes about that, with the cartels in another country that has no present appetite for warring against the cartels, remains to be seen.
But Bill, wheat’s the basis to support the number that Trump claims illegally entered?! He boasted 30 million a year come in illegally (if memory serves me). If they came in illegally, there’s no documentation or proof of who came in, how does he support the number? Isn’t that “an estimate”? And, with that, how do you think we can logistically muster an army, and the funds, to do what Trump promised: a) Find the 30 million illegals, (b) round up and apprehend 30 million illegals, (c) transport the 30 million to temporary facilities, (d) house the 30 million, (e) feed and provide temporary healthcare for the 30million, (f) find a country that will accept the 30 million, and (g) transport the 30 million tow foreign country —all without starting and ensuring a war with the new host countries? I think it’s logistical, not to mention legal, impossibility and one that Trump surely didn’t provide any details in the campaign trail. What are your thoughts on how he will do all of this?
